*****Warning: May contain SPOILERS********* My HUGE problem with this movie is how totally self-centered and self consumed the adulteress wife is!! After having a one night stand with a slimy psycho she is being stalked by him. He calls her constantly and threatens her and even sends a video of their night together. He is OBVIOUSLY crazy and very dangerous. The problem is she only thinks he is dangerous to HER (and exposing her secret). Not for one second did she ever have one thought of concern for her husband! Did she even for a moment think of him possibly being in danger from this psychotic?? As soon as she realized how mental he was she should have warned her husband no matter what the consequences. Maybe there wouldn't have been a movie then but there really wasn't one anyway so what's the difference.
... View MoreThis story is about a sort of attractive middle age wife with some middle age problems around the waist, who is being neglected by her husband in the sex department. This gal is Oliva Hussey,(Catherine Gaits),"Headspace",'05, who is married to a very busy wealthy guy who just simply falls asleep as soon as he gets into bed. One day her husband decides to purchase a yacht and sends his wife off to settle the sale of the vessel. Catherine meets up with a young man, John Denison,(Peter Thornton),"Karla",'06 and Peter notices that she looks very much like his wife and he becomes very interested in her and they have a drink together. It is from this point on that things begin to go crazy and the picture speeds into action and the drama begins. Very good film for a TV Show, but sort of a copy-cat story we have seen many times before.
... View More**THIS MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS** Island Prey IS a good film, if you give it a chance. However i couldn't help feeling that the whole idea of the film was recycled from other recent thrillers which did the job better. Think Dead Calm(88) and Fatal Attraction(87) mixed together and you get Island Prey. Obviously the film was made on a lower budget which justifies it a bit but there is no excuse for the lack of tension and suspense, a key element in thrillers.A basic plot synopsis: Wealthy woman embarks on a one-night-stand with a yachtsman. She decides she'd rather stay with her husband. Yachtsman follows her home to L.A., stalks her, tells the woman's husband. RESULT: Showdown in their big isolated house that quite literally ends with a bang!Whilst i can't deny that i did enjoy watching this film, the chemistry between the actors was non-existent and the script sometimes sounded as if it was written on the day of filming. Olivia Hussey is a great actress and most of the film was carried by her and two other actors (Don Murray and Tony Denison)So i can't really complain about the acting. At the end of the day, i would advise hardcore drama/thriller fans to watch this film or those who like the actress Olivia Hussey. Otherwise its not likely it will be appreciated. I had to order the film from the USA as it is not available in England, so go for it, and see if you agree with me!
... View MoreDon Murray plays an older husband wronged by his neglected wife in this rather thin thriller. It's "Fatal Attraction" reversed, with none of the heart-clenching moments and little sympathy for the adulterer. Olivia Hussey fails to sustain any believable level of emotion as she frets over the ramifications and complications of her wrongdoings, and it doesn't help that many of her lines are so vanilla-plain, e.g., "It's not a problem." Otherwise, the movie has a certain watchability due to the presence of Murray and Edward Asner (as the couple's bemused lawyer). Most of all, I wonder where a movie like this comes from, as I certainly don't remember it showing at any theaters.
