This is a movie worth watching simply because of the psychological issues dredged up in it! The dark side of heroism is something that movies like the 'Batman' flicks usually dig up, but this one definitely has a combination of elements that will leave a viewer asking, who was really a hero here? Was anyone? It definitely hits home that there is no black and white when it comes to certain dark areas of our lives. It also drives home that sometimes heroes are anything but depending on which character one is watching closely here.I will say this though, the character of Cosmo Jackson as played by Ben Cross should have gotten a lot more attention than what was given. Mr. Cross made THAT character real. He has a knack for that. I wish other producers and directors would take the time to give this guy a chance to prove his metal in other films. Until I saw this, I really couldn't picture him playing a Viet Nam War Veteran! This guy is REALLY under-utilized in my opinion.I also feel that Gary Cairns deserves a pat on the back for his role. He did an excellent job bringing out the emotions of his character also, and I hope to see more of him in the future because he has the ability to make a film shine also.Cuba Gooding Jr. and Ray Liotta may have gotten top billing for this film and they are great in it, don't get me wrong, but I watch every actor and how they bring out their characters when I see a film and I watched this one twice. All of them did a great job, but I focus on Cairns and Cross because they both have that same knack for bringing out emotions in a realistic fashion and that keeps viewers coming back for more! Comparing this movie to football, Gooding and Liotta get a lot of attention because they are quarterbacks in the movie industry and they do a great job when they play! I love watching them! However, Cross and Cairns deserve a heck of a lot more respect than the kickers in the game ever get--that's for sure!
... View MoreI had high hopes for this film as I do like most of Cuba Gooding Jr and Ray Liotta's movies. However they both looked like desperate actors in the last throws of their careers trying to make a little extra cash. The story line showed some promise but it was executed so badly. For the first part of the film I had absolutely no idea what part of the story we were constantly being transported to. With Cuba Gooding's constant commentary droning on throughout the film to try and keep you updated. any film worth its mettle should never have to do this. It was if the writer was trying to make it something special by doing this but instead it just bores you to tears. Unfortunately I came to the conclusion that I did not care about anyone in the film.and therefore tried to enjoy the action- not even that delivered. So disappointed and if Fight Factory continue making this drivel I will not be watching any more.
... View Morei really enjoy the movie. All the scenes are shown in flash backs and reverse screen play. it is the story of the man who lost his wife and fell in love with a lady working in bank.He feels that what ever he lost in life can be get back only if he can loved by that lady(bank teller).so that he had planned with his friend to be noticied by bank teller with a plan.but things go wrong when his friend cheated him with local mobstars crew by robbery which leads to injured the bank teller(lover) and him. After recovering from injury his(cuba) job is to find the robbery crew and kill them.on the other hand the robbery gang want to catch him to kill.cuba acting is excellent.
... View MoreCamera work on the opening shot is just awesome. Was is a solid straight camera leading from the street, through the apartment, out the alley, down the lane and back into the street? If it was, I think that was just a fantastic piece of direction, even though the apartment and alley didn't hold any value, but the camera work was really cool.Overall, I liked the film a lot and thought the story was really well and most of the characters were written and portrayed good. There was some overkill on the gunfire and the standard overdone nightclub gangster stuff, but in general, the rest was really good. What I am trying to understand is why a bunch of movies are being filmed in Bulgaria now to represent an American city. With a 12 million budget, filming in some small town in the US or Canada would definitely cover the bill, but a bunch of shoots are being flown overseas...how does that help on budgeting? Really...it loses it's originality.I remember times when Vancouver would portray New York or Detroit...and while that was not fit either...Bulgaria certainly doesn't cut as inner city America or Canada at all...just the little details that make it not gel.Aside from a few minor things, I think it's an overall good production with a great opening shot.
