Generally speaking this movie was satisfying. Parineeti is a wonderful actress and beautiful as always....and Sidharth did a great job himself in his role. Some issues did stand out to me though. The movie perpetuates factually incorrect (but typical) Indian myths on prescription medications. Parineeti's portrayal of a person that takes stress-relieving medications (and anti-depressants??) is downright silly. I'm fairly sure this is not her fault specifically and more the fault of the writers.) Sid's character blatantly bashes "SSRI" anti-depressant medications as if they are a bad thing - not helping the misconceptions of mental illness that exist in Indian society and the stigma / taboos of taking medicines that are proved to combat such health problems. Depression is a true medical problem in the world and not something to be dismissed by rhetoric like "it's OK to be sad - don't take drugs for it". A simply terrible, inaccurate message to send out to the public.Second - the uncle in the movie is physically and verbally abusive. Parineeti's character got brutally slapped by various family members in the movie multiple times (mostly by the abusive uncle). This is something you'd never see in western movies because such behavior is considered unacceptable in the civilized world. The fact that the movie glosses over this with no real punishment for her uncle (or other family members who hit her) is a real reflection of the ongoing problems with Indian society today. That being said - if you watch the movie at face value and ignore the above problems, it's well done and enjoyable. Fun songs, romantic moments, and a nice story.
... View MoreHansee To Phasee: A different take on Bollywood's quintessential Love story. What happens when Karan Johar and Anurag Kashyap (Phantom Productions) come together? ..One production which produces larger than life Bollywood saga and another who are more into small budget realistic Cinema, not like big budgeted DHOOM 3 with no story at all & the Recent KICK which was unbearable. The story and screenplay by Harshvardhan Kulkarni goes few notches higher for brilliantly writing the lead characters and the screenplay has some remarkable moments like all the sequences of Nikhil and Meeta 's interactions or the sequence when Meeta re-unites with her father. It is the performances that make the movie a worthwhile watch especially Pareeniti Chopra's portrayal of Meeta is just excellent and takes the movie to a different level, right from her body language to the way she talks everything is PERFECT, it won't be a too much to say that she is the 'Jaan' of the movie. Sidharth Malhotra in his second movie shows an exemplary growth in his performance and suits the role of Nikhil to the "T".Fresh performances, good treatment , good direction. Sidharth Malhotra is an underrated actor and I guess he has good years ahead of him, Parineti Chopra as usual energetic and fresh. In all a fantastic watch.
... View MoreThe movie has a few flaws. Thing that irritates me the most is when something change suddenly without any reason. Like Parineeti was acting all weird at the start of her character but for no apparent reason all of a sudden starts acting somewhat normal, without any apparent reason, makes you ask why? how come?? Was it because she was in love ??? I give up.That aside, the movie on it's own is watchable and somewhat different. It will definitely appeal to the masses and might just get some attention from the critics. Siddharth in my opinion is a good future prospect. Parineeti has done a good job. The senior actors paid their parts nicely. The surprise package for me was Anil Mange, I think he was brilliant, hats off to him. Songs are appropriate and a few of them will become very popular with the masses. You can watch and enjoy this movie with your family, it may not be the best movie you have seen but will not make you regret watching it either.
... View MoreA rather strange film. I am surprised that ANURAG produced this. Its mostly crap but I completed it because PARINEETI nearly nailed her character. She was nice to look at and her expressions were quite amusing. SIDHARTH was alright. Its just the old Bollywood family movie in a new bottle. The subtlety and wannabe quirky humor is supposed to hide the lack of substance in the film but they do not. And the songs were quite good. After the Punjabis, now the Gujaratis get the Bollywood goofy treatment. Boy, if you watch this film you would think that every place in Mumbai is beautiful and the trains are all modern with clean aluminum rails and everyone lives in nice clean flats with swimming pools.(5/10)
