I was left feeling really annoyed after watching this film. Before the hook up to score weed I had to force myself to not switch it off as it was so annoyingly obvious where the plot was going. The ending was empty - the characters went no where. But what really annoyed me was the depiction of gay men and lifestyles. Like gay men are all sitting around staring at a camera waiting for someone to click on them for a seedy hook up - this was laughable! The young guy with the weed would be so unsavvy to come back after seeing something was up. The ridiculous concept that the main character would reveal his use of the hookup website in order to supply his pals with pot!? So ridiculous... It was all lank and depressing and I did not care about the main character one bit. A dull, insulting and lazy film.

This film tells the story of a young man who is exploring his sexuality in Brooklyn."Beach Rats" has a very handsome lead man, and the even better thing is that he can act. He manages to portray complex inner emotions fully. He is sensitive, but confused. Sometimes, he can be tough as well. He is a bit of everything, so it makes him very interesting.

I was really excited to see the movie given the pitch and the actors, especially the lead. He's young, sexy and manly.Unfortunately, the movie turned a pain to watch on an endless series of painfully useless scenes. Who cares about seeing someone putting a cigarette in a bin, or bringing the garbage out?Only about 20% or so of the movie brings any value. What a waste!Really interesting story plots should have been explored. What about his coming out to his friends? How could he have done that (one by one, all at once)? Or maybe they could have discovered it by chance? Then, what about their reactions? This would have made excellent materials.Also, one of the lead's friend could seem ambiguous (given the way he looks), but it is hard to assess whether there is anything. The movie could have explored this path.But it's true that developing captivating stories is more difficult than filming someone walking on a street or smoking a cigarette...At the end of the day, a really frustrating experience with great materials (pitch + actors) thrown away...

This movie is literally the definition of homophobia. i dont know if this was supposed to be satire or something but its literally this closeted str8 acting masc4masc white twink who ends up killing another twink because his friends wanted weed.........there is virtually no plot and its filled with pointless scenes that try to be artistic but fail miserably.there is no character development. the sister of the twink gets a belly button piercing and thats probably the most exciting part of the movie.if ur going into this thinking its gonna be a romance, think again because its not and it only perpetuates the stereotype that gay love = hookups from grindr. also there are no POC in this movie so that's that..really boring waste of time, sorry not sorry. (also if ur gonna make a movie that revolves around hookups, just show the dick. its not like u were gonna win an oscar for this anyway)
