Freeze Me is a Japanese film about Chihiro, a rape victim who tries to live a normal life, only to be visited several years later by her three rapists in her apartment and raped again. It stars Harumi Inoue as Chihiro together with Shingo Tsurumi,Kazuki Kitamura,Naoto Takenaka and Shunsuke Matsuoka. Takashi Ishii writes the screenplay and directs this erotic thriller about a woman's past coming back to haunt her.Chihiro is enjoying her life -- she likes her white-collar job and she loves her handsome co-worker boyfriend. Then one day, she sees an unusually attractive stranger poking through her mail. To her horror, she recognizes him as Hirokawa, one of three thugs who gang-raped her years previous. Worse, he recognizes her and forces himself into her apartment. Acting like a long-lost lover, he tells her that he and the other two rapists -- including yakuza boss Baba, who just got out of prison -- are coming soon to relive the old times. He shows her photographs of the last rape, which he shows to her baffled boyfriend, who makes a brief visit, and which he has stuffed in the mailboxes of all of her neighbors. The following day, he goes to her work and creates a scene that results in her getting canned. Chihiro's slow burn suddenly erupts into a fantastically violent catharsis. Preparing herself for the impending visit of the other rapists, she stuffs Hirokawa's body in the refrigerator. In the end,she finds herself killing her boyfriend too as she discovers what she has done to the three rape victims and the film ends with Chihiro thinking about committing suicide or not.Freeze Me is a stylish and energetic rape-revenge thriller that presents a heroine who transform from being a victim into having a violent catharsis as she kills and freezes the thugs who raped her in the past.Unfortunately,it has characters that behave in unrealistic fashion especially the thugs who show no remorse whatsoever in the actions they have done committed against her in the past to prove them worthy of becoming frozen industrial meat packages which shows lack of realism and plausibility in the film.Nevertheless, the transformation of Chihiro is both astounding and horrifying as she develops a violent behavior of killing which makes the movie unique and entertaining.Aside from the sex and violence,it also is deep and psychological especially when getting inside the nature of a rape victim which the viewer could empathize with.Despite of the sex and violence, director Takashi Ishii was successful in doing the scenes tastefully and artistically as the viewer would not feel watching it as cheap and pornographic. The cast did well especially Harumi Inoue, who portrayed Chihiro not as a violent manga-like heroine but as a human being who felt damaged severely in life. This is a must-see for people who like revenge thrillers.

View MoreSome films are made that test society's underlying beliefs, and this is one of them. some would say that the women in such a circumstance should call the police (as i would advocate also in every case), but sometimes with some people, pride and society may lead to people hiding. This is the case with Chihiro, who on being gatecrashed by her attackers, is afraid to lose her life once again by revealing what happened to her. It tests our attitude to the victims in such circumstances, and makes you think. You see the film from the victims point of view... and in that way, for those willing to see a film that tests their minds, then this is a film for you. Outstanding and frightening movie that deserves to be watched..
... View MoreTo cut a long story short, a Japanese girl begins to wig out when she is subjected to repeated sexual assaults by a gang of vicious thugs. There are moments of real suspense and the blackest of black comedy here, but overall the film is simply too vile and depressing to be remotely enjoyable. Although none of the rapes are particularly explicit, scenes showing the heroine nude in the shower make the viewer feel uncomfortably like a voyeur. The apparent theme, that violence begets more and greater violence, has been done before. And remember, this is brought to you by the same country that gave you Pearl Harbour, P.O.W. death camps, sadistic game shows and Manga cartoons.Enough said.
