In the events of Last Order, taking place five years before the beginning of Final Fantasy VII itself, Sephiroth was ordered to inspect the Mako Reactor outside the town of Nibelheim with a small entourage, consisting of one other member of SOLDIER and a few Shin-Ra MPs. Among this group was SOLDIER 1st Class member Zack and his buddy, a 16-year-old Shin-Ra trooper named Cloud Strife.

Final Fantasy is one of the most successful video game franchises of all time, so no surprise there is also some motion picture action. This 25 minute short film takes place between different games of the series. i have to say I never played these, yet I was curious about this anime here. The animation is pretty nice I believe and it's not outdated at all, even if this is 10 years old already. Yet, I have to say not knowing who the characters are hurts the viewing experience as there is no introduction to them. A young woman is in search of her father. Everybody is on the lookout for somebody named Sephiroth, who has plans for his "Mother" to become the owner of the Earth. But he seems to be evil, so things aren't going exactly his way of course, even if he is not as easy to kill as it seems initially. There is a fire, the are soldiers first class, seemingly a high decoration in the world of Final Fantasy and last but not least there are samples. I believe these two are lab-created human beings with special powers who managed to get out their prison. Recommended to fans of the series if you can understand Japanese or find subtitles, not recommended to everybody else.

This little movie is fantastic. I think the art is good and the music fits. The character development is amazing considering the short length of the film.As for the story, it's interesting for fans of the game and for n00bs to the FFVII compilation. I've heard debate about the accuracy of the story compared to the game, but I don't see how due to the complex gaps left in the game story. If anything, I felt Last Order answered many questions about the complicated events of Cloud's past.Nonetheless, any fans of the genre at all should experience this. I was glued to the screen from start to finish. I'm excited to see where the FFVII series will go next. -yukons

At first I wasn't too eager on this anime when I heard about it. For some reason I just thought it was a bad idea. But now after watching it my opinion has switched completely. "Last Order: Final Fantasy VII" is superb. The animation is beautifully done and the short 20 minute story was a nice touch to the FF7 main storyline. But there were quite a few plot holes that annoyed me. The biggest being when Tifa see Cloud and talks to him. This did not happen in FF7!!!! The writer just seemed to want to stick in a Cloud/Tifa moment and just take a dump on the continuity. This really annoyed me and its the animes biggest plot hole and downfall. Actually the speech in that scene is in the actual game. It occurs when Cloud and Tifa are in the lifestream together and we see Cloud's true memories. When watching the bit in the reactor that LO killed we hear the two characters speaking those lines while watching their past.Zack vs. Sephitoth fight was brilliant. It was short and sweet and Cloud finished him off with style. Although Seph originally got thrown in the mako pit he didn't jump in FF7 like he did here. Also it was cool to see the Turks, Hojo and Zangan. In conclusion I thought this anime was brilliant! Although if your the kind of person who nitpicks at every plothole you can find I suggest don't watch it.

It's really good!, it comes with advent children I think but it's an anime based on the two flash backs in the game, so there isn't much new...Except watching Zack beat the hell out of some soldiers. It doesn't show all of them and it kinda alters a part but its still great! Last Order has a bit of comedy, lots-o-action (of course)and some REALLY BIG SWORDS!! Also thing to watch out for #1 If you don't like anime, you probably wont like this #2 Be prepared for big eyes and big sword #3 If you haven't played the game and only watched Advent Children this will help a lot! And Finally I would like to say, if you don't like this movie, admire it anyway!
