Batman under the red rood is the ultimate batman movie. I really wish they adapt this story into a live action movie, and that for so many reasons, not just for nostalgia or being a fan-boy. This time batman face somebody with a compelling motive of killing, that will make batman question whether he has to kill or not.Pros +Red Hood! +Batman/Nightwing +Batman/Robin flashbacks +Bruce Wayne/Alfred +The Joker +Action +EndingOverall: 10/10 a perfect superhero film! highly recommended for all comic books fans

Well, I was very glad to see what this very website has rated as the greatest direct to video movie of all time, not including those "Zeitgeist" movies. Of course, it's hard to promote something that promotes 911 conspiracy theories. While I personally didn't find this as good as "Wonder Woman", I still think it's a great movie. I didn't even recognize John DiMaggio as the voice of the Joker. I remember how there was an old saying that Jason Todd was one of the few comic book characters who stayed dead and then he came back. While that seems desperate, I really think it did lead up to one of the best Batman story lines ever. It's amazing just how many unique animation styles Batman has gone through. Bruce Timm did in fact work on this (he's the voice of the Riddler), but this still uses a completely original style. The only thing I didn't like was the ending, where it doesn't really officially kill off any characters, even though it really should have and it seems like a copout. I knew the Joker would be more involved in this later on. I'm pretty unfamiliar with the villain Black Mask. That's what Batman gets for having so many enemies! The flashback scenes are great and while I still find "Batman: Mask Of The Phantasm" to be the better animated Batman movie, this is still awesome. ***1/2

I guess I can get on my soapbox here for a little while, I've always loved Jason Todd, not only as Red Hood, but Robin as well. He was a more brutal Robin, a more street-wise Robin, and a personification of Batman's ruthlessness. He wasn't a Dick Grayson, he wasn't a Tim Drake, and he wasn't a Damian Wayne. He was his own, unique character, and he got killed because of it. I think the biggest draw for me in terms of Jason Todd is how his life was cut short because the fans wanted him to die, they couldn't accept this new Robin, who was so different from the previous. And so, he was killed off in a very tragic way in the story "A Death in the Family". He is now regarded as Batman's biggest failure, who knows what would've happened to Jason had he not been killed off, but thankfully, he was brought back.Unlike "Batman: Year One", I haven't read the graphic novel this is based off of, and I don't care because this is a masterpiece. In just 80 minutes, this movie changed my expectations of direct-to-DVD movies. Not all of them, but at least the DC ones. "Under the Red Hood" is dark, brutal, but also sad, mostly sad for me because I can sympathize with Todd in this situation. The climax to this is a tear-jerker for sure. The speech that Todd gives is so powerful because it's true. Why has Batman let Joker live all this time? And it's Bruce's explanation that also rings true. He can't kill The Joker, because if he does, he'll never be able to come back from it. This isn't just a matter of good vs evil, this is a matter of what someone considers right and wrong. Where do you draw the line? And when do you cross it? The animation is stunning, the story, intense but heart-breaking, the cast, fantastic. So far, this is THE animated Batman movie for me, and I say "So far" because "The Killing Joke" isn't out yet. That's the whole reason I started "The Bat-a-thon", to celebrate my favorite superhero. And that's exactly what "Under the Red Hood" is, a celebration of what makes Batman so great. And that is being able to tell mature stories, that are engaging, intense, but also emotional and stunning. I salute everyone that had a hand in making this.

Batman Under the Red Hood is a awesome movie and I can not under stand why it have not been put in the big screen ,because it has it all : action, mystery ,good characters ,excellent voice work and an amazing ending with for those who have already seen the flick or read the comic a Death in the Family and Red Hood ,you for what I am talking. The reason why DC does not try to put them on the big screen is ,in my point of view , because their first try to the The Mask of the Phantasm in 1993 flop and so the stop trying. This is cowardly for a lack of a better word.Anywat let's go to the main story, Batman is trying to find out what and who is a new vigilante in Gotham ,who calls himself the Red Hood and he uses more extreme measures in order to stop crime. Put in the story the Joker and some great secondary characters like, Nightwing, Back Mask and Ras Al Guhl and you have a roller coaster of a movie ,which fan and casual movie buffs can enjoy alike. I had fun seen it and the fact that the voice cast is not the usual ( Kevin Conroy for Batman and Mark Hamill for the Joker for example ) makes me respect the final product even more.It is said that the best hero stories are those ,which he or she faces his or her greatest adversary both in physical and mental field and we see that here. The relationship between the Cape Crusader and the Clown Prince of Crime is one of the most historic hero-villain arks so when the producers decide to show it ,they have to respect and be faithful to their mythology and not use it as just a marketing scheme in order to increase sells. Yes ,it may seem a lot ,and it is ,but when you deal with some of the most famous characters in the whole of fiction you should do that things, if you want your work to be loved and Under the Red Hood fits this criteria close to excellent. In conclusion is good ,entertainmenting ,faithfull to its source material and everything from the designs to the characters' voices show that this is not a one night stand but a serious project. So go buy or rend it and watch it ,if you love the character of the Dark Knight ,like me, then you will love this flick also.
