Bruce Greenwood, as the embittered father surgeon, who lost his son to illness, tries desperately to keep his daughter from the guy from high school who finally gets up enough nerve to court her. The two find instant love, but Greenwood, in an excellent performance, digs into the youth's past and when the youth hits him, he gets an order stating that the fellow can't be near his daughter without facing arrest. All the while, Greenwood has been having an affair with someone he works with.As the troubled youth finding love, Alex Pettyfer does well in the part, but it's Greenwood's performance all the way that guides this film.A film regarding being on the wrong side of the track and being chastised for it.
... View MoreAgain, I only watched this cause I was on the bus to madrid, and this movie was on offer, otherwise I would not venture and spend 2 hours of my time on something like this. The movie is lame, predictable, cheesy, and really pointless. What do you gain from watching it? Nothing. Zero. You get more by watching a washing machine finish its cycle. Honestly. Of course, if you are the kind that absolutely adores romantic comedies, and just likes to be dragged into the predictable twists and turns these type of movies offer then by all means watch it. You may find it entertaining. It is what you expect for a movie of this genre. Be warned!
... View MoreIn this remake of the 1981 romance film, Gabriella Wilde plays Jade Butterfield, a sweet teenage girl fresh out of high school, who meets a handsome young man named David Elliot (played by Alex Pettyfer) at a graduation party. The two quickly fall in love and develop a relationship. However, keeping each other together becomes a challenge when Jade's parents, her dad (played by Bruce Greenwood) in particular, disapprove of their relationship and tries keeping them apart. Now I really don't much problems about teen romance flicks, my girlfriend and I enjoy them, as long as they're good. This one is anything but good. What exactly is wrong with this movie? First off, the plot is very cheesy, poorly written, and soaks itself with countless romantic movie clichés. It revolves around a girl following in love with a guy and her dad becoming uncomfortable the situation, which is often plot we've seen thousands of times in other films as well as TV shows. So basically, the entire plot is just one big cliché. Secondly, the way the story moves just unbearable, mostly because of the characters. Jade follows in love with David so much to the point where she begins sneaking out of her house, and at one point, tries skipping out on her internship at the hospital. I found this to be pretty annoying to the point where I started rolling my eyes. The acting was okay in some parts, but it certainly was not enough to save this clichéd-ridden mess of a movie.Even if you are a fan of teen romance movies, I could not recommend this one. It is just far too original and torture to sit through. Please look elsewhere!
... View MoreEndless Love is a very heart warming love story. It is a classic boy love girl film where many obstacles are in the way. The protagonists in the film make a very believable couple, and I really bought into the pairs' love. The acting in this film was actually very good throughout, with many emotional scenes which tugged at my heart-strings. Although this film is fairly predictable, and cliché, it was very heart-warming. I would recommend this film to any rom-com lover unless you are looking to watch a brand new love story idea. Overall, a very good film and worth the watch as I was smiling throughout and really bought into the characters. Stuart McCaughey Northampton
