We're lucky to live on a planet in our universe with such uniqueness towards the living organisms and nature we have on Earth. We're also lucky that a species developed art in the form of cinema. Put those two concepts together and you get 'Earth.' James Earl Jones narrates this beautiful documentary about animals and nature around the world. From the majestic birds of paradise in Papua New Guinea to roaring lions in Tanzania, 'Earth' portrays the natural world like you have never seen. The cinematography on the big screen is breathtakingly beautiful and educates the audience about the life of magnificent creatures. This documentary has so many unique creatures and shows you how they interact with the world around them. This involves mating, hunting, finding shelter, and surviving. Nature is a majestic outcome that we're very lucky to have due to the pure luck science has thrown at us. Cinema is the greatest art from from humankind due to our advanced creativity. It is important that we experience and preserve both,, so that documentaries like 'Earth' can continue to be shown.

I saw the German version of the movie in German television and I was really amazed. I generally like to see documentaries, but I can't remember to have seen one that is better than 'Earth'. I knew some of the scenes from Youtube videos that I found by random browsing. I also remember to have seen parts of the film on multimedia stores, running on the displayed high definition TVs. After seeing the movie it's obvious to me why the footage is so popular among Youtube users and multimedia retail managers: It's just so awesome and spectacular that you can't help but stare on the screen, no matter if you're generally interested in nature documentaries or not.Without hesitating a 10 out of 10. For sure, there are more thrilling movies, but in regard of documentaries, 'Earth' is definitely one of the best of it's genre.

Did not Planet Earth as I do not have cable but I have to say it was stunning. I never saw any blood and some of the scenes were just breathtaking. Now as for the polar bear part,I understannd that animals die every day and I will admit seeing the father bear dying was sad but cut out the stuff about climate change dooming us all. I mean really,we have been here what not even 200,00 years and earth is 4.6 BILIION years old. Earth has been wamring in the past and has been hit many times by rocks the size of Teaxs and yet we are here and so is Earth. i would be more worried about a asteroid wiping most of Earth out then a less then 1 degree rise in temps over less then 100 years. Point is the Earth is not going anywhere,we might but things will go on like we were like the dinosaurs, here but unnoticed.

I saw the Disney released (and two year old) big screen version of the planet Earth series on an import DVD. (I was told this was filmed at the same time as Planet Earth with different cameras) Oh my worth this is a trip. Spectacular in a way that few films of any sort are, this is throw back to some of the stunning nature documentaries I used to go to as a kid (Vanishing Wilderness among others). You really have to see this on a screen as big as possible. I sat on the floor in front of the 42 inch screen and was simply blown away. I may actually go see this again on a big screen.Nominally telling the story of a year in the life of animals it begins and ends with the polar bears, traveling around the world to Africa, the Himalayas, the oceans and elsewhere. Yea you've seen this before, possibly even in Planet Earth, but there is something about the way its put together, sound and image that is truly stunning. One of the things I loved about the film was that its ecological message about the world environment being in danger isn't beaten into you its mentioned and we're shown the changes that are happening and what it means (its not just swimming polar bears, but ones that are too tired to catch food.) I'm in awe.One of the best cinematic experiences of the year.
