Researchers on the undersea lab Aquatica have genetically altered the brains of captive sharks to develop a cure for Alzheimer's disease. But there's an unexpected side effect: the sharks got smarter, faster, and more dangerous. After a big storm damages their remote research facility, they must fight for their lives.

I don't understand the flack this film endures, I think it's an excellent, entertaining film. When labeled a "stupid, crap movie"....by it's audience, not sure what they're expecting from it?It's well written, understandable story line, gory when it needs to be. The shock value is wonderfully put together, good acting. It's a shark film people, not an epic drama blockbuster! It does everything it needs to do and if not dissected by its audience, but simply enjoyed for what it is, you will sit back and have a great time with this movie.

My all time favorite shark movie. The beginning starts off a little slow but is necessary for the story line and as the movie continues it only gets better.

I really loved this film and could probably watch it over and over because I love creature films but most creature films are filled with crappy effects and a lesser- known cast. While 'Jaws' was a classic and a league of its own, this was fast-paced with lots of shark action and had good/realistic effects. When you compare it to the many many cheesy shark films out there, this one doesn't deserve the low rating.

I watched this movie over and over as a child. I had this profound obsession with any type of monster, creature, large reptile, anything of the sorts. Now this movie certainly isn't the next "Jaws", but it's worth the watch. It sends us all a message that while science can do amazing things for us, we have to be careful with what we're getting ourselves into. To quote Ian Malcolm from Jurassic Park, "Your scientists were too preoccupied with whether or not they could, they never stopped to think if they should". Well, that's pretty much the basic message of this film. Watching it now at my age, I can see how truly horrendous the CGI effects are though. That and the fact that the sharks seem to constantly change size between scenes. Never heard of a 45 foot Mako shark, especially when great whites are enormous but rarely exceed 20 feet. That's from the point of view of a scientist like me though. I would say it's worth the watch, a good movie to introduce your kids too if you want them to appreciate monster movies like you do.
