This is an incredibly original movie nothing like it before. I can relate to this as a person who enjoys his privacy and alone time.
... View MoreI can't be so cruel as the reviewer who said the film should never have been made, but it certainly would not be a critical success for me. Aside from the gratuitous final line that is surely designed to inspire confusion, the film was so predictable that I was at least two steps ahead of the plot at every turn. But then solid understanding of the film noir tradition might have helped, as we see the twists and rapid resolution applied to so many other types of pictures these days. One sitting for this one is, however, more than enough.Oh, the visuals are good, lighting, etc, but the story simply doesn't approach engrossing
... View More***Spoilers**** After I watched the movie, I hopped online to search for other comments about what the ending might mean. I couldn't find anything. Perhaps most viewers were so fixated on how bad the movie was that they didn't consider the ending had a double meaning (????) There are several thoughts I have about what the real intended back story is and these theories don't involve Selma Blair's character snapping out of her agoraphobia in a matter of minutes.Perhaps I'm reading too much into it and it really was a mediocre movie with a mediocre ending, but I look at that cast and I really believe there could be some shocker explanations for what the last line says about the entire rest of her back story.Food for thought. :)
... View MoreA reclusive heiress is psychologically trapped in her own apartment in one of the swankiest locations in Manhattan. It's a nice look at agoraphobia. The best thing about this movie is that story is satisfying and involving - some parts are a little pleasantly predictable but that's a good thing. The cast is good - Selma, Amy, Jason, Beau and Giovanni all give good performances. Liked Selma's lines - they are quite delightful. It's not a very high budget type movie but it shows a good story is better than shock tactics and effects in keeping your attention.Overall a feel good not too violent thriller. Worth a watch!
