How could any one site throw this awful movie and enjoy them selves. 5.2 is just overrating this carp. It is not scary at all. It is just really gross. I has to be one of the grossest movies ever. And that is not a good thing. The acting in this this movie is just awful. The story line is just awful. Never watch this movie. It is could make Hannibal Lecter throw up. The story line is awful. The ending is awful. Never see this movie. It is a very bad movie. It is no 5.2 it is a 2. Do not wast your money. And do not wast your time. This is just an awful movie. Do not see it. It is a stinky pile of pooh. It is not scary at all.

This is pretty much a carbon copy of "Cannibal Holocaust" with all the needed gore and violence, disgusting elements and shocking moments but it's not a great film like that was. It's almost the same film except for some notable changes, some better, others not so much. A good film anyway. Thoughtful insights were left out to present once again people from developed nations getting eaten by people of the so-called uncivilized nations."Cannibal Ferox" was one of many films of that ongoing success of cannibal films made in the 80's that now are a cult among fans over the world and still banned in some countries due to its hardcore violence and cruelty against animals killed on screen (this has less scenes than Deodato's infamous classic but they still impress and they're completely pointless to the movie's context). You can say it's a terrifying picture even with some funny and ridiculous dialogs and funny moments as well (but I was able to see people laughing when one of the guys had part of his head cut off, we never know people's taste anyway). The weakest plot devices from "Cannibal Holocaust" such as no use of night scenes (that is what makes horror always scary and I can't understand how that movie survived without that) and the amazingly beautiful music of Riz Ortolani (so beautiful that is distractive) are improved here. So, there's night scenes and the music plays its part in haunting us. But the intelligence and the criticism made by that classic is absent here, but quite disguised in form of a special thesis one of the main characters has to do about the cannibal societies and how they act, so dumb.I liked it despite some depressive parts - that tied animal eaten by the snake, scene made to cause impact on viewers but that has no connection with the story - and the pathetic acting by the cast (but Robert Kerman saves the film). Fans of the genre will be delighted with it. 9/10

This was banned in various countries, but if anyone expects a particularly shocking film as a result they'll be disappointed. These 70's/80's cannibal films have lost much of their power to shock, with much stronger modern films like Saw and Hostel far exceeding them in terms of gore and sheer nastiness. That said its a fairly good film for its type, there are a couple of mildly revolting cannibalism scenes and its well filmed, with a good 70's music score. The two lead actresses are very attractive, though one meets a very gory end. One scene that is truly horrible is where a small tethered animal is killed by a huge anaconda, this was filmed for real, some viewers might almost be reduced to tears by this scene as the animal screams in terror as the huge snake crushes it. Its far worse than any of the animal scenes in Cannibal Holocaust, in which all the killed animals die very quickly - this animal suffered great fear and distress before it died (cut from some versions). On the whole its got the feel of a Tarzan film, with added gore, much more of a conventional jungle action film than Cannibal Holocaust.

Cannibal Ferox was made as a response to the huge success of the controversial Cannibal Holocaust, that was a masterpiece, not just for the violence and gore, but even for it's message.Cannibal Ferox delivers nasty gore (for some reason i think that it's nastier than Cannibal Holocaust), that's why 31 countries banned it (well, some of the 31 countries actually lifted the ban) ! The musical score is awesome, Roberto Donati and Fiamma Maglione did an awesome job, the music is chilling and scary, probably, even better than the music of Cannibal Holocaust.Just like Cannibal Holocaust, we have real scenes of animal cruelty.....i am warning you, PETA members.
