Do you remember those cheap and awful straight to video movies PM Entertainment ground out in the 1990s before they got bigger budgets and better scripts and direction? Well, "Border Lost" shares a lot in common with those movies, only it makes those PM Entertainment movies look like masterpieces in comparison. It's appallingly cheap, with cinematography that strongly resembles what a VHS camcorder would grind out, and with little in the way of production values. There's hardly any story, with things stretched out long past the breaking point for an agonizing one hundred and five minutes in length. It's terribly acted, though in fairness to the cast the script gives them hardly anything in the way of character development and personality. There's almost no action, and what little there is wouldn't make expert action directors like Isaac Florentine or John Woo lose any sleep. The end result is a movie that's absolutely agonizing to watch. Why Mill Creek Entertainment thought that this movie was worth a re-release on DVD, I cannot say.

If someone would have spent the extra few grand on putting this movie on film instead of video, I think the impression of this movie would be better. The music tracks were not always appropriate for the scenes and both the acting and editing could have been even marginally improved for a much greater return on the movie's overall quality. I would say that it is not even remotely good as it stands, but such little things could have taken it so much closer to being acceptable. I think the fact that it has to do with Mexico just reminds me all that much more of Spanish day-time TV. Oh, and they also filmed it like a bad soap opera, most of the time without even a tripod.

I haven't seen anything this awful since a got cable! this movie blows!! It looks like it was filmed with a hand held camcorder for about $50. The acting is just dreadful and the directing is a complete mess! I have to be honest, this movie is so bad it's almost a comedy!!!!!!!! I actually found myself laughing so hard i almost lost a lung! It's spoken in Spanish, but they hard-coded the subtitles onto the film. Whoever did the subtitles must have dropped acid before sitting down at the computer. The subtitles move and jump all over the screen... there is a scene in the opening sequence, when you see the subtitles in a million different shapes and sizes! We even get treated to seeing a subtitle float out of a characters mouth! It was actually pretty funny. Maybe this is a comedy, because i'm LMAO just thinking about it!come to think of it, this movie is actually pretty f'n hysterical. It certainly has more laughs then "What Happens In Vegas", therefore i'm giving it a whopping 2 stars for bringing me to tears of joy... literally!

The 1st scene in this film was great, and had me hooked with the insight of a new storyline and approach to the (IMO overdone) Mexican border scripts that have made it into the movie scene over the years. After the 1st scene and intro the movie quickly became B grade, with bad acting from the majority of the cast, something you would expect with a lower budget film and first time movie actors. The other disappointing factor of this film is that scenes jumped left and right, and was very slow (after the intro), making it hard to follow any kind of storyline. The idea that was put behind the script was great, and in my opinion could have created a hit in the movie scene, however the casting and script itself damaged this potential.I rated it 3 out of 10 because the potential was there, and the opening scene was good, along with the intro that sucked me into thinking this movie was going to be worth watching. 140 minutes of my life i am not getting back.
