I have read what all the Big critics had to say, and me just a first time watcher say this. Its very suspenseful !! I found myself going back over it to see clues I missed the first time. After all said and done I think the "twists" were pretty good. The one thing that anyone fails to talk about was the fact that while the "writer" was sitting at his desk he hears a woman scream then a gun shot. If he is the Killer how was he at two places at once? Secondly the "bad guy" would not let the writer out of his sight ... So when could the writer ever leave the house to commit such a crime? I like when a movie leaves me a bit baffled and I have to go back to see clues I may have missed. So to the Big Critics you tore up this film but really it was quite exciting to watch and fun to try and figure out. .

First off, I don't claim to be a genius when figuring out what twists and turns will occur in a film. That said, the plot of 'Black Butterfly' came as a complete surprise. I have uttered "Didn't see that coming" at a plot twist watching many a movie. A few times I have said it twice. This is the first time I have said it three times. If your cup of tea is a story that will take you by surprise, this is definitely a flick worth watching! And BTW, reviewers should NOT put a spoiler in their title, readers see it and it's too late to avoid.

Outside a mountain town grappling with a series of abductions and murders, Paul (Antonio Banderas), a reclusive writer, struggles to start what he hopes will be a career-saving screenplay. After a tense encounter at a diner with a drifter named Jack (Jonathan Rhys Meyers), Paul offers Jack a place to stay-and soon the edgy, demanding Jack muscles his way into Paul's work and the two men begin a jagged game of one-upmanship that will bring at least one tale to an end. Black Butterfly was a film that for quite some weeks now i wanted to see cause of Antonio Banderas and after seeing it i gotta say it wasn't that good, the acting from Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Antonio Banderas was good don't get me wrong and the twist was clever but a few good performances and a nice twist in the end can't save a film that is simply boring and bad as it is. The romance between Banderas and Perabo wasn't there, there were many scenes inside the Cabin and that made it a bit boring for me and last but not least it takes somewhere around 42 minutes to get to the whole "hostage" situation. Overall Black Butterfly is a boring 93 minutes film with a few good performances by it's 2 leading men and a nice twist that i didn't see it coming but it's still not enough to get the audience hooked on, who have seen the exact same plot in much better movies of the Past.

It was a little surprise film, but not that great. I really enjoyed it. It was thrilling, suspense and fast paced storytelling. I usually like this type of flicks. If you too prefer entertainment over a masterpiece, then you would enjoy it as well. Only the beginning was slow, but once the concept of the film ignited, it was a non-stop entertainment. So the later parts are like between the two characters that took place in an isolated place. A great setting and with all the development, the film totally gets you.A struggling alcoholic writer who got rescued by a stranger at a diner, invites him to the home for the stormy night ahead. Later the stranger decides to help him out with his writing, so his stay extends. With talking to each other, the writer comes to know what kind of person he's brought into his house. His agenda ires the stranger and hence a conflict begins between them. The rest of the film is to disclose who ends where with a twist at the end. When the second act begins, that's when your guessing game starts. At the end of that section, I had in my mind that at least 4 to 5 possible paths the story could head. With that kind of option, who won't enjoy such film. Whatever I predicted, that did not happen. That's another reason why I liked it. The twist was good, and so the performances by Jonathan Rhye Meyers and Antonio Banderas. BUT when all was going well, the end scene before the credits, disappointed me. It should have not been in the film at all. That's why I did not like 'Prince of Persia' too. Apart from that final 10 seconds, it was a good film.7/10
