Animal House is a great movie with a very well written plot and a stellar comedic cast. Being the first of its kind, the film is so iconic that it inspiree comedy films that are still being made today, the frat house, gross out type films that come out continuously now. It has a fun vibe to it throughout and never gets too tied down to its plot, tossing it aside in favour of long, hilarious sequemces. I did feel, however, that the majority of the characters were not established enough. There is really no lroper development given to anyone, which I know waa probably intentional, but it just made it difficult to route for them at times, cause we were not fully aware of who they are as people. The cast is all around terrific and have a great presence in their individual roles. The highlight is, without any doubt, John Belushi, who steals evety scene with his spontaneous, flamboyant energy. The man was clearly a brilliant comedian and it is always a pleasure to watch him onscreen. Great fun from beginning to end. Hilarious and easy to watch, I would certainly recommend Animal House to anyone looking for a good comedy. A college frat house toss aside work in favour of shenanigans. Best Performance: John Belushi

Gun to my head, I don't think I can come up with a better frat movie than "Animal House"; at least none that hold up so well today. It's bledssed with a cast brimming with future stars, John Vernon in one of his best roles, and John Belushi's devilish mugging for the camera. The script doesn't pull any of its punches, even in its anarchic finale. The humor's as low-brow as it gets, wonderfully depraved, and it's just one laugh after another. I love this movie.8/10 Speaking of Belushi, he comes perilously close to stealing the whole thing; even with Tim Matheson and Peter Riegert in the mix.

Animal House is the fantastic origin of an easy-watching genre of film. For a film that came out in the late 1970s the jokes and sense of humour throughout are very ahead of its time, and stands the test of time. Such an easy watch and a must see film for those, who like myself, are big fans of teen movies set within a college backdrop. Thoroughly enjoyable movie, and a great watch, not least for the importance of it for all future films of the ilk.

Warning - if you have seen a TV broadcast of this film, chances are you have had many of the best scenes censored. As if the physical comedy isn't hilarious enough, this is by far the greatest ever interpretation of the childish, immature and ridiculous mentality and culture that was college fraternities. Some of this nonsense still remains but obviously this over the top romp defined the strange era and culture of the 60s. This film is merely about two young new college students who pledge a rowdy fraternity and, after a multitude of excess, decide to take revenge on the snooty wealthy fraternity and the university administration that wants to get rid of them.As the top review here states, this movie is often imitated and borrowed from but is never ever close to the original. This is because the talent level is so strong, the lines are general witty and the originality of being first stands out. It's fresh. For those who didn't like it, I doubt they'd like any movie of similar, childish and ridiculous nature. But the topic is what it is. So be forewarned that the language, lewdness and immaturity is what this movie is about. And if you have no patience for it, don't bother watching. It's not a documentary. You're not going to learn anything about history except peer a little into what life was like back then taken to some extremes, although less in some instances than you'd believe.Lines like "Assume the position" and "Thank you sir may I have another" are just two of numerous quotes that have become commonplace in contemporary American speech. Don't believe me? Search Google and you'll see many people ask the origin of these lines. It's a fun romp. Enjoy it for what it is. Oh... and the music is fantastic if you love the 60s...
