Must see this! Otherwise you will never believe, how bad a movie can be! Absurd plot, terrible acting and CG so poor, that average computer game has 10 times better! But it gets its second star for USS Iowa and clear sentiment that makers of the movie had for her...

I see a lot of comments of people saying not to watch this movie. I would have to disagree with them. I actually recommend this movie to "movie buffs", and people who love movies. Why, you ask? Well, yes it is a horrible, horrible movie. However, movies are designed to entertain for the most part. I will admit, that this movie is surprisingly void of boring scenes that make us wonder, "When will this movie finally be over?!". That is the only reason I even gave it 2 stars. Otherwise, this movie is absolute trash, but somehow, it kept me entertained. A lot of the acting is terrible. The wardrobes are especially HORRIBLE.. and I mean HORRIBLE! Aside from the traditional brown military uniforms for ranked officers, the uniforms for the crew are so terrible, that I would liken them to props used in a middle school play. They were wearing plain old blue baseball hats and plain red and blue sweaters and shirts that look like they just came off a Wal-Mart shelf. They still have the wrinkles in them that clothes have when they have been sitting on a shelf for sale before they are washed. They didn't even take the time to attempt to make their clothing look used in the very least. The props are also horrible. Not a single prop looks like military grade at all. The visual effects and audio are some of the worst I have ever seen. The continuity is horrible. The men playing the Navy seamen look about as far away as being a Navy seamen as possible.. and especially the "SEALS". They were either little skinny guys or overweight. The hair of some of the male actors was too long and would not even be within military guidelines. This movie looks like it was produced and directed by people that lacked even the basic knowledge of the military. Like I said, this movie is HORRIBLE, but SO HORRIBLE that I believe it would actually entertain a movie buff for that reason!

I blame Starbucks for this mess. If they didn't have free WIFI, you wouldn't have horrible screenplays like this being written. If they only charged for WIFI, then aspiring writers would avoid Starbucks and get a real job. Jobs that contribute to society like dealing heroin and pimping, instead of writing movies like American Warships. This movie weakens the nation by rendering viewers stupid. Why? Because Mario Van Pebbles, that's why! Children make better movies using toys. This movie was very painful to watch and I watched as much as I could before I started vomiting blood from my eyes. Yes, it was that bad and I have the stains on my carpet to prove it. Please God, when judgment day comes, have mercy on their souls, or maybe not? It's totally up to you because you saw this movie in their minds before it was produced... and they still produced it? Okay, send them to hell.

This movie may have come out at the same time as the movie "Battleship," but it had a lot more thought behind it than the bigger-budget movie based on a '60s board game.First off, ignore the cast and special effects, and consider the plot: The USS Enterprise carrier group is sunk in minutes by an unknown enemy after its electronics are disabled by an "EMP weapon," barely giving them time to send out a mayday. Only a large debris field is found by satellite. The USS Iowa is in the area on her farewell goodwill tour, and happens to be nearby when an island whose ownership is disputed by North Korea is attacked by missiles and destroyed by the same unknown enemy. The Iowa engages the enemy, which seems to be not only Stealth-enabled, but actually invisible to the naked eye, though they do appear when they launch their missile attacks. The Iowa is also attacked with the EMP weapon, but thanks to the ship's legacy 1940's no-computer technology, and the presence of a skilled team of naval historians on board to restore the Iowa to her WWII condition for her new destiny as a floating museum, she is still able to fight on in her not-inconsiderate WWII level of combat readiness. As the captain, crew (and hesitant Admiral) attempt to maintain contact with the enemy until reinforcements arrive, they try to figure out who is behind the attacks. The CG effects are pretty bad. The acting is not much better. But the idea that the low-tech -- yet formidably-armed -- Iowa might be the best possible fighting platform against a technologically-advanced enemy is a concept worthy of better treatment. Certainly better than "Battleship" provided.
