The first one was a really good one to watch, and it was a good thing a sequel was made, and this one wasn't that bad either. I still wouldn't say this was as good as the original, but that's just a personal preference. Both the Ace Ventura movies are very different from each other, and that's what I like about these movies. I like the plot of this movie: It doesn't try to be as same as the original, and that's why I think this sequel had some success. But I still think the plot of the first Ace Ventura movie was far more interesting. The first one was something that looked a bit serious, but the second one had humour to it. I think Ace Ventura When Nature Calls is the more funnier of the two movies. Personally, I think the plot for this movie could've been far more better than it already was, and that's why I think many didn't like this one. Ace Ventura When Nature Calls looks underappreciated - that's the impression I get.

View MoreI must have watched this movie 100 times growing up with my brothers, the whole movie is really hilarious, its more of a kids kind of funny but its still really good that I watched it a few times as an adult also, the story was good, it was entertaining and makes you laugh the whole way, especially the beginning when he first arrives in Africa lol
... View More(Originally reviewed: 22/02/2017) Jim Carrey's 2nd worst film after the sadistic, repugnant Kick-ass 2; I usually enjoy his work; but this film is plain and simple not funny. I never laughed, nor did I smile, the whole picture was utterly painful to sit through. The only thing it had going for it was its production design which looked decent; it's a pity everything that talked and contributed to the screenplay for the film was either embarrassingly awful or just plain awful. There's no structure to the story; if you could call it a story, and there's no chemistry between anyone and the acting sucks; even Carrey who is desperately over the top; most likely trying to make up for the picture's bad writing; but even he wasn't funny here. Many of the gags looked like they were designed for teenage boys; the writer's think spitting gags, snot covered faces and a man eating bat droppings is funny; well here's some truth; there just not; there unfunny, gross and immature; at one point I wrote down I hate this film on a piece of paper and I've never done that before; that's how aggravating it was to endure. Other noticeably crap jokes include "Say hello to my stinky friend" where he sprays someone with a skunk, which is pathetic, and a terrible gag where he comes out of a rhino's ass; which is an insult to the intelligence of people who have a good taste in comedy. One other gag involved a fight with an alligator; now I actually felt sorry for the alligator; because even he looked depressed with Carrey's embarrassing performance. The film is complete trash; a film that requires constant unnecessary slapstick, unpleasant gags, and atrociously bad dialogue to exist; Jack Bernstein (writer) and director Steven Oedekerk who also helped write the film should be ashamed of what they have done, because this is a contender for worst comedy sequel of all time. Overall Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls is juvenile, immature, pathetic, and pure comedic sewage. 0.5/5

View MoreAce Ventura: When Nature Calls (1995): Dir: Steve Oedekerk / Cast: Jim Carrey, Ian McNeice, Simon Callow, Sophie Okonodo, Bob Gunton: Dumb comedy about the union between man and animals and the stand to preserve wildlife. It opens with a parody of Cliffhanger where Ace Ventura fails to save a raccoon stranded on a mountainside. Depressed, he secludes himself in a temple until he is summoned to Africa to find the sacred bat thus preventing a war between two tribes. Basically the same stupid concept as Ace Ventura: Pet Detective that devises predictable developments and recycled dialogue. The tribal jokes are offensive but director Steve Oedekerk allows for beautiful shots of Africa that are pretty much the best aspect of the film. In fact, watching ninety minutes of African footage on your average wildlife program would be better time spent than watching this. Jim Carrey does nothing new accept portray Ace as a bigger jackass. Ian McNeice is wasted as Ace's contact. Simon Callow plays the villain whose final scene has him molested by a gorilla. Sophie Okonodo plays the tribal Princess who encounters Ventura and allows him to pop her cherry before her wedding. This has him chased away from the village in a manner that many critics of this film may of felt. Serves only as a lame sequel and with all its idiotic mayhem it's a wonder why anyone would want to hear nature call. Score: 3 / 10
