A charming cast is the highlight of this Christmas based drama. In this film a mother and daughter have a successful Wedding Planning business. On one trip abroad the mother woman falls in love with a fellow American. When the daughter meets her mothers future husband she is shocked. She think he maybe up to no good. When She gets her mother to put off the wedding for 10 days she concocts a plan to get her mother to dump the future bridegroom. Now the film moves along at a brisk pace. My only problems is that the grown daughter acts more like child than an adult. This alone almost sinks the film.. The cast saves the film from being a total letdown.
... View MoreJoanna Garcia (so cute)plays Roxanne the daughter who does not want mommy to marry Jack. Now mom and daughter run a local bridal shop. Joanna tries every thing she can think of to disrupt their wedding plans including offering to plan the wedding, thereby hoping to delay it. She pokes and pries looking for anything to derail the event. Luke Perry shows up as the son of the groom to be. He is just as determined to break up the nuptials as Joanna is. His from greed and hers from being needy and not wanting any change in her life. There are a few scenes where the older couple are being very affectionate and I like that. There is no reason older people can't have romance and excitement in the later years. Mom begins to get suspicious as things go wrong, such as a wine auction that son and daughter show Jack so he will miss the meet and greet with moms friends, stealing jack's cell phone so he can't call to say he is late. Of course Joanna starts to come around when she sees that Jack is actually a good guy and mom does love him. Luke Perry is still trying to put the kibosh on things but now Joanna is fighting him tooth and nail, until a big bridal chain buys a lot down the street. The chain turns out to be owned by Jack and his son. Jack knows nothing about it because Luke is still trying to ruin everything. Luke is stopped when he needs daddy's signature and doesn't get it. At the end Joanna finds out Jack is still a good guy and sets up the reconciliation between her mom and Jack. The wedding goes off and all live happily ever after except for Luke. Oh yeah an old beau of Joanna shows up and they seem to rekindle the sparks from their past. A feel good movie for this time of year.
... View MoreRoxanne (Joanna Garcia) and her mother, Rose (Helen Shaver) run a wedding shop and planning business in a smaller city. For Roxanne's sister, this has been a blessing since she has been married several times. Finally, one month, Rose takes a vacation in Paris and meets a new love, late in her life. He is Sam (Kenneth Welsh) and they arrive back in town together, with happy news. Roxanne has another wedding to plan and soon. However, the young lady is aghast, for the daughter thinks the mother is rushing things. So does Sam's son Charlie (Luke Perry). Also, a man Roxanne once loved, Dylan, has reappeared in town, upsetting the bridal consultant even more. He was the proverbial boy next door and now he's back and wants to rekindle the flame, even though Roxanne's heart was pulverized. Will Rose decide she needs to get to know Sam better before the wedding? Will Roxanne let Dylan back into her life? This is a very merry little watch for romcom fans, with attractive stars and a nice storyline. Add on good costumes, a lovely setting and a holiday and you have another winner for the genre's fans. If you are one of those, don't tarry, get this very merry flick!
... View MoreTish is getting married, for the fifth time, if only the groom will show up. Her wedding planners are her friend Roxanne and Roxanne's mother Rose. Rose started Cameo and Cufflink after the death of her husband, and Roxanne is experienced enough she could take over, if necessary.Tish's wedding does not happen, though the food is there and the reception goes on as planned. Why waste everything? But Tish needs a job and a place to live. Roxanne provides both. She needs help while her mother is gone to Paris for new gowns, and one of the employees was recently let go. Roxanne and Tish running the place themselves is humorous but not disastrous. By the way, Tish may have met husband number six, who seems to be planning a wedding but is too confused to admit it and shows interest in Tish.Rose comes home with more than gowns. She has met Jack, a wealthy business owner from Seattle (which is nowhere near wherever Rose lives now, by the way). And Jack asked her to marry him, and she said yes--and they want the ceremony to happen before Christmas.Roxanne is upset for a number of reasons. Her mother hardly knows this man, for one thing, and Roxanne doesn't trust him. And Rose would move to Seattle, leaving Roxanne in charge of the business. Fortunately, Jack's son shows up and he wants to stop the wedding. So what will happen? Will Rose and Jack go through with it? And what about Tish and her man? What about Roxanne and Jack's son? Wait ... Roxanne's old boyfriend is back. Will he end up with her instead? This is mostly a comedy, but it is not pure comedy. It has plenty of dramatic moments, enough to make this a comedy-drama. On the other hand, the movie does make us laugh, with a mix of styles that includes physical comedy. It's nothing that special, but this movie is enjoyable and fun. The acting performances and the writing are good enough for a TV-movie, which this is. Roxanne sure is pretty, and she wears a really hot dress at one of the weddings. I know Joanna from "Reba" and "Privileged", and she seems talented enough.Although there are a couple of references to premarital sex, they are not explicit, and one scene only implies something happened. This may actually be clean enough for kids to watch. They'll think the couple was kissing or something.I enjoyed it.
