4.5 stars. 5150 is effectively gory beyond most B productions films of this genre. It's unsettling from the beginning and tension is taut until the final scene. I expected it to be supernatural horror or a thrilling slash-fest after reading the synopsis. This film is neither of those. It's a relatively gritty crime-thriller with tension remaining taut up until the final scene. That's certainly applaudible, but with a short runtime it wasn't a major feat. Some care was put into conveying a back story for each of our main characters creating a nice crescendo for us to ride until the end of the film. By the end, we see the characters in a new, and very different light. Is some ways the film was predictable, formulaic. When the landlord character is introduced, I knew where PART of the plot was headed but I still unaware I was watching a crime-thriller until later. Overall, the writing is still fairly good with believable script that simply lacks style at times. I would recommend this one to friends with express interest in the genre who are having difficulty finding something "new" to watch.
... View MoreReally bad movie. First off,the bgm is really annoying, you barely hear what the actors are saying. Second, the part where one lady is supposed to be well versed in crime scene shows left the part that you're not supposed to touch a dead persons body with your bare hands, let alone the bag where you put the body in,,or the fact that you have to tie all your hair while you're dismembering the body to not leave any dna trace. Lastly, the ending sucks and leaves you hanging. So im sorry to say that this movie deserves the 3.0 rating or even less.
... View MoreTons of great moments in this film. Really strong acting. Didn't know what the code 5150 was until I saw this film. Doesn't hurt that the women are beautiful and not your cookie cutter non-acting Hollywood types. Great to see indie filmmakers working towards original stories rather the the same reboots or cliché horror/thriller stuff we've seen in the last few years. kudos to the cast and crew. Definitely looking forward to a sequel!!!
... View More5150 was coming up in the feeds of my friends on social media so I decided to check it out (the trailer drew me in further). I lean toward psychological thrillers more than traditional horror - the way regular people can become monsters when they must protect their secrets at any cost. I don't want to say too much because spoilers are the worst - but know that there are many twists and turns to this that will keep you engaged. I'm looking forward to the director's next project - very promising.
