27 Dresses,, is pretty much what you think it is going to be. Just from the title you can tell it's about a girl who is always the bridesmaid, never the bride. A few things i didn't like. Mostly the fact that this guy has Katherine Heigl in his office as an assistant and doesn't notice here. Is he blind? If she worked in my office I'd be going to see her every chance I got! But I'm a big Katherine Heigl fan. Just think she's great in every movie she does. The only thing I didn't like was the absolutely stupid ending. HOW MANY TIMES now have you seen a romantic comedy, where in the last the couple finally get together, in front of strangers at a party and kiss - and every starts clapping? Come on! It's been done, and done, and done, and done. It doesn't even make any sense. Why as a wedding guest would you start applauding two people you don't even know? I'm surprised the ending in Casablanca didn't have all the cops line up and start clapping when Rick sends Ilsa off to the airplane. So please, Hollywood, be a little more creative. I can't stand this ending scene for the thousandth time the next time I watch a romantic comedy. Come up with something NEW and Different. Otherwise I really liked the movie!

Jane (Katherine Heigl) is always the bridesmaid, never the bride. She's attracted to her boss George (Edward Burns), but when her little sister Tess (Malin Akerman) comes to town, he falls for the younger sister. Kevin (James Marsden) is the cynical writer who's trying to do more than the fantasy wedding story. When he find Jane's filofax in a cab, he decides there might be an interesting story about Jane.Literally there was only one laugh in this for me. Just one. That's when Judy Greer slaps Katherine Heigl. Is there something of a wish fulfillment? I don't know. Let's say Heigl in this movie is pushing all the wrong buttons for me.I'm not trying to say that Heigl is a bad actress. The whole idea that these two beautiful people are both so cynical is not an appealing story. Bennie and the Jets singalong was a smile-worthy moment. Somebody should steal that and put it in a better movie.

27 Dresses is a romantic comedy that stars Katherine Heigl and James Marsden. It was about a woman who has served as a bridesmaid a shocking 27 times wrestles with the prospect of supporting her sister at the altar on number 28,despite having fallen helplessly in love with her smitten sibling's handsome husband-to-be. The film was directed by Anne Fletcher. The plot starts when Jane, played by Heigl, has the kind of altruistic traits that everyone looks for in a friend, yet lately the perennial bridesmaid has begun to feel as if something is missing in her life. One night, local newspaper reporter Kevin spots the devoted bridal attendant racing between receptions in Manhattan and Brooklyn, and quickly surmises that her quirky tale may be just the story to get him off the bridal beat and into the big time. Immediately suspicious of the cynical reporter's motivations, Jane butts heads with Kevin just as her younger sister Tess shows up in town. While Jane has always put the needs of friends and family before her own wants and desires, she's suddenly prompted to reevaluate her priorities when her boss -- with whom she is secretly in love -- falls for her younger sister Tess. When Tess and Jane's boss George make plans to marry, the smitten younger sibling mistakenly assumes that her lovelorn older sibling will be happy to take part in the wedding. For as far back as Jane can remember, she has sacrificed her own happiness for the sake of those she holds dearest, but now that her heart has been broken, she's finally found the courage to be honest with herself. Now, as Jane finally comes to terms with her true feelings, her life begins to change in ways she never expected. The movie is definitely clichéd,predictable and most of all forgettable. But nevertheless,Heigl's presence makes it entertaining.Although she could fare better in good movies like Knocked Up,she makes up for the many negative things the movie has like its dry humor and unoriginal ideas borrowed from other films. Also, the actors except for Heigl were uninteresting and looks uninspired where the plot is headed.Overall,it remains a good view only for Katherine Heigl and for young people in love.

The contributing factors that made 27 Dresses, a 2008 film, a success for me were the plot, acting, originality, and soundtrack. This movie is your usual "chick-flick" by nature. The plot is relatable to the female audience and a great movie to watch while with your girlfriends. The male audience would maybe find some parts funny like those with Marsden but I wouldn't recommend it for men. Katherine Heigl is a hopeful-romantic in search of her groom. Having been a bridesmaid 27 times in 27 weddings ranging from themes like scuba to classic, she is now ready to search for a groom of her own. She has done everything for each and every bride that she has been a bridesmaid for. She secretly is in love with her boss, Burns (George), and believes that he is the one. While daydreaming about her boss, Marsden comes along with his charming ways and tries to weave his way into her heart. Heigl's character is so sidelined by her love for George that she doesn't see it. Along comes Akerman (Tess), Heigl's sister, and Burns immediately falls in love with her. Akerman then asks for her sister to plan her wedding and puts her on track to be the bridesmaid in her 28th wedding. What's one more, right? Wrong. Heigl will not let him go that easily and pulls the crowd with her and she takes on the challenge. Heigl (Jane) and Marsden (Kevin) combine to create a comical yet beloved couple. Their use of wittiness makes for the perfect dose of comic relief in the sometimes awkward situations and it adds to their charm. They are sent to go shopping for Tess' wedding registry and decide to scan all the ugly things in the store to get back at Tess. There are some cheesy lines every once in a while, most frequently from Akerman (Tess), but is not unbearable for us viewers. The originality of the film is what really drew me in. Like I said before, the film definitely follows the outline of a traditional romantic comedy, but not one that is completely predictable. The emotions of the film made it seem like I was on a roller-coaster, but was hard to foretell. In the beginning you have hope for Heigls and Burns' characters and then it quickly fades when Marsden comes into the picture. There is a feeling of hopefulness in the relationship between Marsden and Heigl since there is a spark between Burns and Akerman and the emotions continue from there. The soundtrack is very appropriate to the film and the events in it. The songs are rather catchy and may lead you to sing them for the rest of the night. After watching the film I was singing "Bennie and the Jets" until I went to bed! 27 Dresses is a film that I would recommend to any female and would make for a great movie on a night with the girls. If you are someone that likes movies like The Proposal or The Wedding Planner, then you would like this one as well. While they all have to do with the idea of marriage, they were all either directed or produced by Anne Fletcher. This film will be one of my favorites in my collection and able to hold its own against the others. If I were to rate this film based on my liking out of ten stars, I would give it nine stars.
