USA did something really unique with this procedural buddy cop show, they made it sincere. Something one Elizabeth says about Neil really carries over the whole show, "when it counts": this show is cheesy, funny, and really hits its important points well. There are moments when the show deals with the consequences of actions and the emotion of characters that are handled so well! There is sincerity and a real conversation that happens between characters when needed and the show really approaches these situations with maturity (even if its premise is ridiculous) Along with the over the top crimes, ridiculous inaccuracies, and extremely patriotic lead FBI agent there's tons of comedy, creativity, and a good overall story in which we see growth in most of main and supporting cast Neil (Matt Bomer) is perfect in his role and along with Peter Burke (Tim Dekay), another excellent role, is a ton of fun to watch and has lots of chemistry with the entire cast Mozzie is going to be your favorite character, Elizabeth is the perfect wife (a little too perfect and understanding at times), and Jones and Diana do a great job supporting the weekly and season wide stories You'll laugh, feel for the characters, and think "that's the most ridiculously cheesy shit ever, but I loved it"

This show started out with promise. It was a good compliment to Burn Notice, and was slick and polished. For a while. Then the whole thing turned to mush. The plots became more and more improbable and silly. (i.e. Neal painting forged masterpieces literally overnight. The FBI incapable of catching Matthew Keller who operates unimpeded right under their noses, including Keller kidnapping both Peter Burke AND Elizabeth Burke in different episodes.) And in the process of trying to make Neal look like a Superman Renaissance Man McGyver, capable of painting, sculpting, forging, and fabricating anything out of thin air, they make FBI agent Burke look like a buffoon, incapable of catching a cold. And the whole plot arc with Kate and Neal's total infatuation with her was preposterous. This series probably should have ended years before it actually did. But alas...it dragged on, and dragged itself down. Oh well. Like some other posters have already stated, it's something to watch in the background when there's nothing else on.

After enjoying films such as Wall St, The Big Short and Margin Call and series one of Billions. I looked for something similar, I looked at the reviews for White Collar and most were good. However, they must have been written by someone who is bereft of any knowledge of reality.I bought the 1st series of White Collar from Amazon. I wish I had saved my hard earned money, the show is awful, torture to watch. Matt Bomer the pretty boy actor, can't act for starters and the rest of the main cast struggle to convince. The story lines, more like the 60s Batman and Robin episodes, but not as near entertaining.I donated the box set of the pilot and first series to the local charity shop, maybe someone else will enjoy suffering it.
