This show is moronic. I can accept zombies but the actual plot is complete trash. It's essentially a bad knock off of Walking Dead, which is hard to pull off. However, I think if it wasn't for the awfully weak character development and painfully juvenile dialogue this show would be pretty good.

I'm only on the 5th episode and so far I've seen nothing but disappointment. Acting is terrible, some scenes when the actors are crying, it definitely wasn't convincing at all. If the directors settled for this level of acting, this makes the director a terrible director as well. I don't know why I can't stop myself from comparing this to TWD but this really feels like a washed out version of TWD. Some people are saying it gets better later on so I will keep watching to see how it turns out.

Is it the hairbrained decisions that keep leading to dumb scenarios? The poor acting and dialogue that feels straining lay forced or cliche at times? That the story seems to be written without a destination in mind? I can't put my finger on it. Just watched till s2e1 and the constant facepalming and cringing is too much. I have been waiting for the show to get going, 1 season later, that hasn't yet happened.

The series started out intriguing but by the end of season one, everything about it began to feel lazy. To be honest I seriously considered not continuing watching it anymore. However... I gave it another try in season two, and you probably should too. The second season was a whole new show. The vampires are way less campy, they finally stop killing off characters willy nilly and actually start to develop them. The writing still deals out a few eye-rollers, but compared to the end of the first season, its bearable. For me the saving grace was keeping/bringing back the enjoyable characters. I was so disappointed at Sam's vampire character at the end of season one...Christopher Hayerdahl being probably the best actor in the show, his turn to a ghost faced, over-the-top vamp that chases them through the forest and not much else was very disappointing. However in season two he becomes a pretty terrifying creep (in a great way) and we are able to finally see his acting skills. Same case with Axel's character. There are no strong male lead roles without him so it would have been a big mistake to off him (like it seemed they were going to). In season two he returns to hold the show together both as a tortured vamp and his charming human self. The other thing that saved the show is that it felt like it started to take itself a little less seriously. There were some pretty funny lines to be found, and the overly intense and down-right irritating head vampires are either toned down, turned into interesting human characters, or killed off. It will be interesting to see what direction they head in season three...it could go either way, but heres hoping they ride the momentum from season two and continue to improve the characters and dialogue.
