I usually watch this when I'm really bored and it is one of my guilty pleasures but as I have realized it is not that good of a show. I love Molly Ringwald, she one of my favorite actresses. But this show in my opinion is offensive. It really makes some people feel bad about sex and the act of having sex. I mean I do agree that some teens shouldn't do it but that'd make me a hypocrite. Amy is such a terrible mom in the end of the series. Saying she wanted to marry Ricky then just leaves him and John. Terrible. There's a lot of things I don't like about this show but like I said it's one of my guilty pleasures.

i hate every single character. i hate the slut and the pushy boyfriends and the ungrateful brat amy. and i hate the way ben says baby, it makes me uncomfortable. ben in a whole makes me uncomfortable. plus ricky had one episode saying he fell for amy and episodes after never spoke of it again. i could only go up to season 2 ep 4 before i found myself pulling my hair out and screaming at amy through the screen about how much of a bitch she is. adrien or however you spell her name i seriously don't care is always telling ricky shes not sleeping with him anymore and then the next episode she is. plus there were about two episodes that showed her stepbrother as a love interest but it never explained what happened to him or why he left besides the fact she was embarrassed to say i love you. all in all i really hate this show and its totally unrealistic characters. im stopping myself from watching this before i become bald.

All people in this show are completely obsessed with sex while throwing the words "I love you" around like confetti till it no longer has any meaning. You might as well have the word "hi" and "bye" replaced with "I love you, I wanna have sex with you." They cheat with each other so frequently for no reason, that just you going to the kitchen for some cereal is enough time for it to happen. You'll hear things like "I love A. I love B. I love C! I love A but I also love B and C, but I don't love A like I love C. I think I only ever loved A. I'm so confused~"Everyone are completely shallow and act like a child left alone with a cookie, the cookie being sex.No one is happy for any significant amount of time so even happiness has no meaning. They talk about marriage like it's supposed to be one of the two most important things of a relationship, the other one being "sex," of course. Again.Nobody has any real hobbies or ambitions except hunting for love and sex.The adults try to lecture the teens even though they do the exact same mistakes just as often. That being lying/cheating/gossiping and more. Oh, so. Much. More.Every episode must have at least 100 mentions of the word "sex" and that's the entire show. Other frequent words used as much are: - Love - Ben - Ricky - Marry - BabyShort sum up: BEN SEX SEX LOVE BEN MARRY BEN SEX SEX BEN RICKY BABY BEN LOVE MARRY SEX RICKY SEX SEX SEX MARRY BEN BEN BEN RICKY SEX SEX BEN RICKY LOVE LOVE SEX LOVE MARRIAGE BEN SEX SEX and so on for 5 seasons. After all this the absolute worst thing ever is the main character Amy, who resents her life and everybody around her because she had a baby at 15. She evokes no happiness towards her child or tries to bond with him and all she thinks about how much better her life would be without her baby, even though this is the nicest child in the world pretty much. Might as well be Jesus. All Amy does is complain when having no right to do so. She has a big family and friends that support her but she's so stuck up that it matters none to her just like one of those girls getting a brand new car and throwing a fit because it's the wrong color. The boy that's supposed to love her acts like she's in the friendzone when all she requires is some intimacy so what does he do? Goes and has sex with someone else, of course. Why? No reason. We also have the classic stuff like "I dunno how it happened, we were drunk, she seduced me" yada yada yada.No one in this show go through any real struggle but keeps acting like it's the end of the world except when it matters.Even death has no meaning. One of the only likable characters die and the show asks everybody to just move on straight away. People in reality can grieve all their life from losing a loved one but this show had the "crying won't bring them back" mentality and that is so unbelievably cruel. What kind of drama could you possibly have if life, love and death are all insignificant? The widow finds and remarries a guy in the span of 6 months and acts like the love of her life never existed, smiling and then is already unhappy in her new marriage and wants to a divorce. There's just so much horrendous things to this show I could tell you but let me just say that this is pretty much a soup of the most selfish, unfeeling psychopaths ever put on a screen and I'm not trying to be funny.

This is by no accounts a good show. The acting is bad, the characters barely tolerable, the plot line is repetitive, cliché, and at times just plain terrible. The only reason I gave this show 3 stars instead of 1 is because I have watched so many episodes despite the obvious and immediate flaws. Not sure if that says more about me than the quality of the show though...In any event, the things that are wrong with the show that I listed about pale in comparison to the real reason that I hate this show. When you first start watching, you see that the main character's (Amy's) mother and father have dark brown eyes while Amy and her sister both have light eyes. Okay, you may think to yourself after drawing a quick pundit square, this is somewhat unlikely but there could be a 50% chance of the offspring having light eyes when the parents have dark. However, as the show progresses, and you are introduced to the character of Adrian and her parents, you realize that her parents have bright blue eyes, while she has dark brown eyes. After drawing this pundit square, you may become angry, enraged even. The chance of the offspring having brown eyes is 0%. This is what got my goat. Finally, I am not sure why the writers of this show feel so compelled to make all plot lines revolve around sex and pregnancy. Every single episode, the words "sex" and "pregnant" are said in such great abundance, the words begin to lose all meaning--viewing of the entire series is sure to leave the viewer in a mental hospital, screaming the words "sex" and "pregnancy" over and over again, praying for a lobotomy so that they can finally forget these terribly overused words....
