To be fair i only watched the first two episodes. could not watch any more of it. it was simply very boring! the story is good so far but nothing great or special. what really drives me away is the very dry approach to deliver whats happening. very dry and well... very boring in a way. its kept very realistic. for some people this might work and it could be an 8. but if you are like me you expect something else... something less... dry... i don't know how to explain. just try it for one episode. if you are bored as i was, leave it.

First season was great. Full of suspense. Great characters, great acting. Excellent script and plot. Second season fairly good. Watchable. Third season absolute trash. They should have stopped at two seasons. No need at all for the third. Sooooooo slow. Unbearably slow. 1) Why is Gillian Anderson whispering most of the third season? The pouting is bad enough, but the whispering doesn't make sense. Is that bad acting or bad direction? 2) Why is the killer left unattended in the hospital room on multiple occasions with a nurse that looks exactly like his victims? Why, after attacking several police, is the killer left alone in a room talking to the - frail - psychiatrist? Both of these instances are examples of the inexcusably poor writing in season three. 3) The killer has a hospital bed NEXT to one of his victims with no police presence. Um... what??? Sloppy writing. Even if there was only one hospital bed left in the entire world, you would not put an unguarded killer next to his victim. There's talk of a fourth season. Please. Don't.

By the end of season 4 I tired of the contrivance laden story line. I found myself silently yelling at the screen because, once again, the most basic police procedures/common sense had been sacrificed for dramatic effect. This has nothing to do with the pace of British drama, although it is slow in comparison to U.S. police procedurals. No, my issue was with the instances of lazy writing that really accumulated by the end of season 4. My actual rating would be season 1 and 2, ratings of 8; Season 3 and 4, ratings of 6.

Loved the first series but during the next series I became very annoyed with all the whispering of this Stella character. WHY is this necessary? People don't talk like this in real life, well, in church maybe, but not in the office. Bad directing!
