I rarely notice anything on the old-guard networks, so I was completely unaware that this series even existed. After the unfortunate passing of Robin Williams I learned about The Crazy Ones and watched it.Robin Williams had a set of characters. These were him. Just like my grandfather, he could call up an appropriate character and bring it into perspective. I'm absolutely certain that every day on the set of The Crazy Ones involved a lot of laughing, a lot of fun, and a LOT of material that couldn't possibly be used on network television. What we got was a mediocre but entertaining show.Robin Williams as the 63 year old elder agency head is perfect because of these things, they are not faults. He's older, more mature, more experienced, definitely more jaded. The younger ones are learning at his knee, as it should be.As a requiem for Robin Williams' career, this series is a tragic and amazingly funny summary. They're all there. There's a bit of Mork, a bit of Mrs. Doubtfire, some Adrian Cronauer, you'll recognize the Genie, and the Indian Chief, and more. Yes, Robin's career was stale and he was essentially doing the same shtick as he was doing in the 70s. But it was good. He was fast. He was an amazingly funny man, filled with heart and care. We loved him for it. Maybe the younger generation will never get Robin, but anyone over 30 should have.If I had left behind the body of work that Robin Williams did, and that included this little unpolished gem, I'm certain I could have left this planet fulfilled. We will miss him.

I really like some of the movies that Robin Williams has done in the past and I was looking forward to this series with great anticipation. I actually hoped it would entertain me for 20 minutes on Thursday nights. However, I've been tricked and deceived by the hype and commercials and left disgusted. The show is not funny. The plots are horrible. The actors are sub-par. The scripts are typical liberal, homosexual, leftist Hollywood propaganda making a feeble attempt at changing our minds about morals by laughing at them. This has never been my idea of comedy, having been raised on black and white TV sitcoms of the 50's and 60's until the "rural purging" took place and ruined nighttime television forever. I have seen better comedy get canceled faster than this show, so the powers that be really like this venue. Tonights show of November 14, 2013 lasted about 5 minutes on my TV before I turned it off and wrote this diatribe. My hope is that this awful excuse for quality will flush down the nearest toilet and be gone soon. When will Hollywood get the idea that this doesn't work, it stinks.

I have seen all seven episodes of "The Crazy Ones", and it is one of the funniest shows I have seen in quite a while. Robin Williams is simply fantastic as Simon, and the rest of the cast is awesome as well. At first, Sarah Michelle Gellar seemed a little out of place for me, but she has adjusted quite well. James Wolk is brilliant and destined to be the next breakout star. He and Hamish play off each other very well. I'm glad CBS ordered the full season, and it will be interesting to see how the show evolves in the coming weeks.I do have one issue with the show, and that is a mother for Sydney. Numerous times, the show has mentioned a mother figure or one of Simon's ex-wives. It would be a great move on the part of CBS to hire Pam Dawber to play either one of those roles. Pam has worked with Robin before on Mork and Mindy, and it would be great if they can be reunited on The Crazy Ones. Both Sarah and Robin have lobbied for Pam to be on the show, and if Pam wishes to get back into TV, this would be a great time to do it.As for the show, I love it, but hiring Pam would make a good show even better.

It's funny how the first few reviews are quite negative and nearly all after are more or less stellar. As for my wife and I, we've watched three episodes and nary a smile has reshaped our lips. Seems like they are basically depending on Williams to ad-lib the funny stuff, and either he's just not that funny anymore or he has nothing to work with. And to make matters worse, they try to ad some sap at the end (as is so common in today's sitcoms) to tug at your heartstrings. How 'bout just going "It's Always Sunny in Philladelphia" people and trying to be nothing more than funny? I realize people have different tastes, so I imagine some do legitimately like this show, but as for my wife and I, we won't be making an effort to watch any more episodes. I suspect there won't be many more anyway.
