This is one of the finest TV series EVER to run! I watched it a couple of years ago on Netflix, and I'm currently watching it again...and loving it all over again. The acting is superb and the story lines are both believable and complex; this is about six steps up from everything on TV now, and head and shoulders above all of the "made-for-pay" series running everywhere. This is a cop show, but also an excellent entertainment vehicle. I still can't figure out why it lasted just one short season, but I guess Fox TV figured it didn't fit their profile...and it doesn't, thank you very much! If you ever get a chance to see this, do yourself a favor and DO IT! Just don't be upset when you finish watching the series and are hungry for more, because you will have had a fulfilling experience, worth every minute.
... View MoreThe Chicago Code may have only lasted 1 season with a total of 13 episodes but what an interesting show while it lasted. The show was created by Shawn Ryan who was also the creator of The Shield and The Unit so you know that his qualifications are very high. The show was canceled much sooner then it should've been and they could've easily gotten 4-5 seasons out of the show. But that's out of our control and the show at the very least being such a short series was able to be high quality from the start to finish. They were able to wrap up most of the important plot points so the network at least gave enough of a heads up to finish stuff up instead of giving them no warning and canceling the show being in the middle of multiple story lines.Shame that this show didn't appear on FX, AMC or TNT so it could been given a longer leash and it didn't have to worry about ratings so much from the word go.
... View MoreI loved this Chicago cop show which combined impeccable and compelling acting, crafty writing, well conceived plots and amazing Chicago shots foregrounding the city's splendid and diverse neighborhoods. The show also has a nice soundtrack and showcases music of Chicago locals including Smashing Pumpkins. I loved the characters and the short interludes detailing Chicago's notorious crime syndicates, institutions and neighborhoods from China Town to Pilson to boys Town. And Beales really pulls it off as the female lead in this show. Her characterization is cool and collected yet tough as nails. Her biracial identity certainly speaks the rich racial and ethnic history embodied by the shows characters. This doesn't present the real problems and complex multiple perspectives of The Wire but nevertheless, it provides an entertaining and reasonably realistic view of the city and its corrupt alderman and political system. Such a shame that it was taken off the air. It was brilliant!
... View MoreThough it started as one of the usual cop series The Chicago Code changed it's paced and introduced us to the cops vs. superiors not the cops vs. criminals kinda-of-series we used to. It is the kind if series that makes you love the law again and though at first I disliked the woman figure as a commissioner but I understood at the end of it why they chose a woman role. The cast was superb and never mind the accents of which I usually not focus on anyways but the core of the series. I liked Delroy Lindo for his cool, charm and cruelty, he is very manipulative and I don't think anyone could have pulled this role of the way he did, he is the love me now and hate me later kinda-guy and what I liked the most was a brief history of Chicago as well as of the characters. What makes it unique from the other shows is that it is a reality of the times we are living in where we have all heard of corrupt superiors or aldermen yet there is nothing done about them... It brings a new meaning to whatever you do will catches up with you.All in all I enjoyed the series and was somehow glad they cancelled it it should have been a bore... Running around the same circle... It came, we saw it and we loved it...
