Sit back, Expect nothing, Be Ready for everything. This show has an unparalleled humor and relaxing philosophy, not to mention a beautiful art that along with the techno jazz and controversial situations create a master piece by non other than Watanabe himself.Unlike what other reviews tell you, the story does have a continuous plot, there is a reason for the Gorilla chase, and there is a reason why Space Dandy is so damn dandy! But focusing completely in understanding the plot will deviate your attention from the individuality of the episode, which makes the show what it is.The best this you could do is follow the main character's advice and go with the flow, or better said...Stay Dandy Baby.

I've scored Space Dandy 3/10. Those three points are for the artwork. The dialogue in Space Dandy is trite and never rises above functional. The humor, such as it is, is immature and consists of mostly painfully obvious sight gags. Not visual humor, but sight gags. Sometimes, visually stunning scenarios are contrived and developed for nothing more than a single, lame sight gag.The basic premise of Space Dandy is highly promising. I wanted to like it. I wanted to love it. When I read reviews of it, I thought the main character sounded something like Archer from the eponymous animated TV show, except located in the vast corpus of space teeming with alien life and highly imaginative characters and encounters. My bad.Space Dandy is for children. Young children.

This has got to be one of the worst animated series I've ever seen. The artwork is good, but that's about all. The story lines seem to have been written by a horny 14 year old boy who, one can only imagine, draws the large-breasted female characters and then wanks off to them. The plots and dialogue are similar to what one hears if you listen to young children playing with action figures and making up stuff as they go along. It's beyond ridiculous. Worst of all, the show is very denigrating to women. It's really sad that the show's creators portray women as nothing more than space whores. Again, more evidence that this is the work of a developmentally arrested mind. It's puerile, infantile and vapid. Don't waste your time.

Because I loved Cowboy Bebop so much, I was really anxious about Space Dandy. I 've now seen 5 episodes. To be honest, I didn't know what to think after viewing the first episode. No dark, tormented characters like Spike or Faye here. Expect over the top characters who are constantly in a sugar rush. Don't look for an arc or character development either, as the main characters usually don't make it to the end of the episode :-) The episodes are pure escapism, full of slapstick, and with numerous references to other Science Fiction works. You can just see everybody loved working on this series.I read from some comments here, people didn't like the amount of boobs and other sexual references. It didn't bother me since it's quite obvious a parody on Space monsters material from the 50ies and 60ies.The things it has in common with Cowboy Bebop are the highly dysfunctional crew, the beautiful artwork and animation and the fact the show grows on you every episode.I really hope Space Dandy will also end with a "bang".
