I used to watch this show when I was a young teenager. Some jokes are fine for this audience, others are a bit less, let´s say, subtil. It´s probably more for boys. For both genders, The Simpsons would be more appropriate.

I'm an all time South Park fan in the sense that i enjoyed their show starting from my early teen years. The show also formed my own 'dark' humor to some point and i do thank them for that. However, it has become clear that this show has run its course. Maybe i'm getting 'too old' for South Park but it is abundantly clear that they have run out of ideas. This current season (21) has some of the worst writing i've seen of the show. I don't wanna go into detail (since I'm a bit lazy) but you should check for yourself if you agree. In a nutshell, they can't comment on social/political events anymore in a clever and comprehensive manner nor do they have the ability to write stand-alone episodes that are entertaining at this point. A constantly farting opiod dealing elderly woman might have been fun a few years ago, but now it falls short in comedic value. The fact that she has urine stains on her dress is almost a stigma of the aggression, frustration and desperation the creators have in dealing with their writers-block. I'm referencing the latest episode here btw. Maybe its because we live in a 'Trump era' that makes South Park loses its punch or inspiration. Maybe i am getting too old. In any case, South Park deserves a great finale and i really hope they go out with a bang. Worst case scenario..they continue on this path of mediocrity and operating as a shallow shadow of its former self...

For some reason I stopped following this show long time ago, even before tenth season I think. Recently, again for some inexplicable reason, it came to my mind and I decided to start it all over, from season one, but this time I'm gonna finish it, or better to say catch it, because I hope it will never end. This morning I finished first season. There's nothing better than healthy laughter with morning coffee. After 20 years this season is still fresh and hilarious. One of the strongest tens I ever gave.10/10"There is actually a lot of intelligent social commentary here - it's just masked under anything they could possibly offend someone with." - chthon2

Yes, South Park is very crude. The voices of impersonated celebrities are poor(as they admit!), and they occasionally may seem to pander to one political viewpoint or another. However, compared to most of the other biased crap on TV(on both sides), SP just doesn't give a rip. They put their own outrageous spin on everything going on in American society, and instead of really forcing a view of what to do about it down your throat, they poke fun and holes in the absurdity of the whole situation--perhaps of life itself. It is meant to be ridiculous commentary and cynical sarcasm about life in the USA and pop culture crap in general. People that don't get this show, or think it should be more preachy, or be sanitized from potty humor, don't get it at all. Sometimes, the show gets a bit tired(like any show, especially one this old!), but in using current events, it is really able to continue the laughs and the hilarity. SP is not perfect, but it makes you think in a way that also makes you laugh. Reveling in its own childish stupidity, it uses this to portray a country lost in its own stupid reality-- of celebrity "news", lame fads, PC absurdity, impractical ideologies, political opportunists, hypocrisy on every level, and a whole lot more.
