Seriously, youngsters under the age of 10 years have NO business watching such dark, dramatic stuff that has war fare sequences, firm, serious talking, and suggestive themes, especially that infamous make-out scene on that "Hooked on Sonics" episode. That are also bad, partially-nude female role models, such as Princess Sally is more of an airheaded mammal. When I was a kid, there were two Sonic cartoons that aired during that period. One called "Adventures of Sonic", which is more kid friendly, and they aired it at a time that children would have to go to school. Another called "Sonic SatAM", which is more for much older children, was aired at a time where small children can access. I don't know what the networks were thinking, which makes me wonder if one network was preventing the children from watching a rather kid friendly show by airing it during school hours and trying to get the little ones to watch a rather diverse show at a time they aren't going to school, which makes me infuriated. It also makes me wonder if the other network wasn't trying to encouraging the little ones into terrorism and sensuality at an early age. It was bad enough when Cartoon Network aired "O Canada" that had shorts, which were aimed at adult audiences. Personally, I ain't recommending this to a small child before their preteen years.

This was one of my favorite cartoons as a kid. I always liked this series of Sonic the Hedgehog better than another that ran around the same time, which had a drill robot and a chicken robot as the main baddies. This one was more about trying to defeat Robotnik (or Eggman) for good and restoring peace to their world. Along the way they restore the "humanity" to Sonic's uncle who was completely roboticized, and discover that Sally's father was not dead like she long thought. It ended far too soon, and it's sad that the newer incarnations of Sonic don't appear to have picked up the story line, nor do they have the same level of quality to them.If you're a Sonic the Hedgehog fan, this is a must watch cartoon.

What I'm referring to as the Golden Days is the days when "Sonic" (including "Underground") and "Pokemon" were THE HOTTEST AND COOLEST shows on television. Like any other kid of the rockin' 90's, I was in the cult of television shows based on wicked video games. At the time, they were the "Desperate Housewives" of the 90's for kids.Nowadays, we have the pooey "Sonic X" which just doesn't live up to this and "Sonic Underground" and "Pokemon" has crashed and burned now that they've added 493 more Pokemon as well as getting rid of old characters, added new dorky ones, turning Giovanni of Team Rocket into Jim Carrey and getting rid of the classic voice actors. However, "Sonic", "Sonic Underground" and the old school "Pokemon" (ie. when there was 150 Pokemon plus Mew and Togepi) will remain in my heart forever.Thank you for reading my cliché'ed comment and ranting.

I was born in 1958, so I was mature when I saw this series. And it is a mature cartoon (I did not say adult because of the negative connotations of that word). It is not toddler stuff like AoStH, it is not the bizarre mix of light and dark like Sonic Underground (which has a tone that strikes me as wearing a Hell's Angel leather jacket and a ballet tutu, with its Robotnik and musical numbers), it is not a good but not great cartoon like Sonic X. I still get chills when I think of the animals being marched in to be roboticized at the start of "Blast to the Past", or when Uncle Chuck says that the roboticized animals are still aware and not unconscious...they know they are obeying Robotnik's evil orders, they are just helpless to avoid them. My favorite was Antoine...I have Asperger's Syndrome, and I have often had problems relating to other people, like Antoine does. The other characters had minor character flaws (especially Sonic), but he seemed the most realistic. And in Sonic X there is a memorable scene where the President looks out the Oval Office window and muses "He might win!" In this series, he has won. Not like the silly giant gold Robotnik statue in AoStH, you get to see what a Robotnik victory would really be like, and you FEEL for the tiny band of Freedom Fighters fighting hopeless odds against an evil tyrant. Even Sally, at the start of "Blast to the Past", post-mortems her failure to save the roboticized animals and the says something like "Oh it's hopeless...Robotnik has all the cards!" I will never forgive the Power Rangers for giving ABC the excuse they needed to cancel the third season, leaving loose threads (just WHAT was Naugus...a mutant?) and a cliffhanger.
