This was a wonderful series until 2nd Season and the bright bulbs in charge decided to change the cast, change the story line, change the producers and writers and directors and then the show tanked. Second season was ridiculous and made no sense. the songs sucked and the cast had no chemistry and they didn't even finish the storylines. First season was amazing, songs, cast, direction. Why can't the studios leave well enough alone. They get people that thing they can do better and they ruin everything. This show tanked because the bright bulbs at the studio thought they could do better with what was already a fantastic show.

Being a theater geek myself, I was naturally drawn to this show's musical theater star studded cast, and two of it's obviously talented songwriters, Shaiman and O'Donnel, not to mention it's long list of talented producers with impressive resumes. After watching the Pilot, I was excited about the show, as I had thoroughly enjoyed the episode. I looked the show up after watching, and was horrified to see how so many people detested the show. I ignored this; I kept watching, and I genuinely loved the show. I thought the characters were realistic enough, and the songs were brilliantly sung, staged and written. Also, the plot was engaging, and I cared about each of the characters. There was ample drama on and off the fictional stage. Katharine Mcphee, who plays the kind, and naive ingenue stood out to me; her perfect voice and surprisingly good dancing caught me by surprise. I already knew Megan Hilty, who plays the seasoned Broadway veteran in the show as a star on the real Great White Way. And I must say to you, ignore the reviews, and give it a try! I showed the show to many of my friends, all of whom loved it, and when I showed them the reviews, they were horrified. Try the show out, and you'll know if it's for you! It's a great show, and I truly recommend it! I am hoping that the show "Smash" created will one day make it to Broadway.

That season started not as good as expected. The first one was all about dramatic moments around Ivy Derek and Karen. Although It was never interesting for me to watch second role characters. What I loved about second season is 3 Broadway shows were put in motion. Comedy, Bombshell, and story about love. So it was not about Bombshell only! But something was missing. And probably this dramatic effect that kept audience intense during season 1. Nevertheless starting from episode 7 it turned my interest back. They made gorgeous performances, choreography, songs! New love triangle! Excited about how the plot will be developed. Smash, you surprised me. Keep it this way and hopefully we'll see season 3.

Simply beautiful. Music is spectacular and if 'Bombshell' was on Broadway I would fly to New York to see it. My boyfriend is having to put up with renditions of 'Let Me Be Your Star', 'Wolf', and 'Don't Forget Me' 24/7.The series is full of twists and show stopping numbers. Derek (Jack Davenport, Pirates of the Caribbean) stands up to the stereotypical English villain with hilariously dry English wit and sarcasm. Looking devilishly sexy in nearly every scene he added special flavour to the cast! Ivy (Megan Hilty) is absolutely my favourite character - Megan's voice is absolutely beautiful and I was devastated that she didn't get cast as Marilyn! Karen (Katherine McPhee, American Idol) was a bit wet if I'm honest, and although no-one can doubt she has an amazing voice I think it was one that belongs on the top 40 and not in 'Bombshell'. I found the character of Karen a little annoying but then again I fell in love with Ivy at the first. I am a huge fan of 'Will & Grace" and I was ecstatic when I saw that Debra Messing was in the show as lyricist Julia. She is an amazing actress and she played the affair through beautifully. When she joined in with the impromptu 'Wolf' I was very pleased and the whole scene was amazing. Tom (Christian Borle) was hysterical. Beautiful voice and fitted the cast perfectly. Tom & Julia were the comedy couple to begin with (reminiscent of Will & Grace) but the tone sobered and they were beautifully broken (if that makes any sense whatsoever!).I love Smash and I cannot wait for season two (although I'm not sure how it's going to work!) As long as it is full of further amazing songs and with the same dark humour then I'm along for the ride the whole way.
