I really enjoyed the first season; the two leads' chemistry was sizzling and the stories were fast-paced, albeit unrealistic. There was so much the writers could have done after the Season 1 finale cliffhanger. Instead, everything is neatly solved within the first few episodes and it's as though the near-hook-up between Rosie and Villa never happened. It's barely mentioned and it feels like a different show. Now this problem on its own would have been fine, but what really brought Season 2 down even more, IMO, was the over-involvement of Lorraine Toussaint. Don't get me wrong, she's a great actress who should always be on TV. But her role was written as the extremely emotional, overbearingly annoying mother. Every word she utters is dramatic and grandiose, which in smaller doses would have been fine. In larger doses, it overwhelmed other characters and plot lines, and not in a, ''omg, her presence is majestic!'' kind of way, but in a, ''Um, wtf are you even doing here?'' kind of way. She ended up coming off as mildly insane but that's not on the actress though, that's totally on the writers. Speaking of which, the Gerald thing could have been so much better but the disjointed storyline drove me bananas. Yes, I know a lot of the storylines in this show are dubious at best, but this one really took the cake. I mean, why the heck would you show us that he's brawling in prison if he's innocent? In any case, I just finished the episode where he gets out of jail and he and Mrs Rosewood proclaim that ''they saved each other'' (good god, stahp!). Maybe there will be more to his character now that he's out. I'll update this post when I finish the season.

This show started off very good in the first season and I really liked it, but when the second season came it just dropped in quality. The first season ended with Hornstock losing his job, rosewood realizing Villa's husband's death was a murder, and TMI and Pippy breaking up while TMI questioned her sexuality and who she had feelings for. None of this was shown in the first episode of season 2, except Hornstock and even then he didn't really seem too mad that he lost his top spot, so unlike him. The station also started using a really weird coloration on their camera that hurt your eyes whenever you'd look at the screen. Pippy and TMI slowly get back to together as though nothing had happened, what happened to TMI's feelings she was starting to have for Mitchie. The season does get to Villa's husband's death, but they should have done it in the first episode of season 2 instead of waiting a few episodes. Then they introduce plot elements like Rosie getting a girlfriend and his mom getting him to help her get a prisoner who is innocent out. The writers really should have finished before starting something new.

Love it!! One of my top rated shows on now and has a great cast. Good chemistry between rosewood and Detective Annalise. The romance and comedy is perfect. I keep waiting for them to get together. And Rosewoods sister Pippy is a 10/10... and same with detective Annalise. Please keep the show going. Season 3... and more. Please.

I rate the show overall an 8 out of 10. Season 1 was awesome. I thought FOX had a hit on their hands. The writing that season was good and I loved to see the relationship between Rosey and Villa progress. There was a great balance of cop show and human drama. The supporting cast is excellent. As for season 2, the writing took a turn, and I'm not sure it was for the best. I was bummed Villa's mom was virtually dropped from the show. I was bummed Ira was demoted and Slade took over as Captain. I didn't like him at first, but he actually grew on me. They at least developed his character in a great way. I was also disappointed TMI and Pippy suddenly had relationship problems and then out of nowhere in the finale they eloped? Their relationship wasn't written well. I think once FOX moved the show off it's original night and put it on Thursdays, I think it was, I had a feeling it was headed for cancellation. The finale was really disappointing too. I think the silver lining out of this show is Jaina Lee Ortiz. She is a STAR. She should have her own show where she is the LEAD because she is absolute MAGIC!
