A victim really of the 07-08 writers strike this show deserved longer. It was very quirky, didn't really fit a box in terms of genre, and had a good cast, including Brit, Anna Friel.Sadly some of those plus points I mentioned also worked against the show. It was really overly quirky, to the point I expected to see Tim Burton's name on the credits, and the fact that it didn't really fit a box in terms of genre I'm guessing didn't make it easy for TV bosses to market. In the UK it was also sadly shown in the big Saturday night slot on ITV, where people I don't think expected to find such an 'out there' show. It's a real shame.

I've marathon-ed this baby and I still crave for more. Despite the rushed ending it still covered the highlighted issues of all characters. I also grew fond of the hilarious PlayStation-like CGI. The acting is superb, the characters all have this endeavoring individualism that you can pinpoint whose who and what's who. Every episode has its own language and the series itself was just a mouthful of tasty pie. Real, addicting, pie. Sadly it was running during the time where most shows were canceled to avoid the risk of loss. O' well, maybe Fuller will think of reviving it someday but I wish the original cast to remain if so.

Ned (Lee Pace) has powerful magic. He can bring the dead back to life by a simple touch. A second touch will leave the person dead forever. However, if the person isn't given the second touch before 1 minute is up. Someone else will die in their place. Charlotte 'Chuck' Charles (Anna Friel) is Ned's childhood friend. However when Ned revived his dog from death. Someone else died causing great pain in Chuck's life. Ned grows up to be an amazing pie maker. Along with Chuck and PI Emerson Cod (Chi McBride), they use his special power to help solve mysteries.Bryan Fuller has once again created a high concept show. This is probably one of the most unique show on network TV. The fanciful look may have pulled too much away from the storytelling. It's really too bad that it only lasted 2 seasons.

By introduction, this series is glaringly cinematic, with Fuller applying a Beattyesque (Dick Tracy) style to its composition – garishly strong colours, simple and immediately recognisable "bad" people and benign, yet irritating, lead characters (apart from Emerson Cod). However, what, potentially, was a brilliant concept for a TV series, was produced as a wanton flagrant waste and while I appreciate the originality of the visual, it really is just a rip-off of other, more successful, artists, replacing solid characters with hollow mannequins and witty repartee with vacuous dialogue that chafes the intellect and exacerbates the senses. It really was a huge disappointment.
