This is an awesome and hilarious show. It has great characters; they have great personalities and I would love to watch episodes based entirely on each character - it would still be just as engaging. But, I really dislike the inappropriate material and jokes of this show, considering it was aired on the Disney Channel. Perverted content is not needed to make a show entertaining, but that is unfortunately what most of the world wants. Aside from that, the story has so much potential and makes great use of each character's abilities and the story plot. It is a refreshing combination of the interactions between vampires and humans, and applies this classic myth in a modern and fun sense. The show never gets boring, and each episode has something new and great to offer. I really like the second season more than the first one, in which Sarah's personality was quite shallow. In the second season, there is a lot more team work, friendship, and maturity (for e.g., Benny stops objectifying women, for the most part). There is ironically some subtle (or overt) sexism in this show, despite it being based on a powerful female character. The show makes Sarah a strong female character, but then has jokes that basically say that females should "not" be this way, that they should not be strong and powerful. Very disappointing element. If they removed that and all the intense and over-hyped, typical sitcom high-school stereotypes (jock, nerd, etcetra) the show could exercise even greater potential. They should definitely make a Season 3.P.S. I am shocked that this was aimed at children 12 and under. With some of the content in this series, it is startling that parents let little kids watch this. *8/10*
... View MoreWhen I first saw the commercial's for the movie, I figured it would be awful. However, I enjoyed the episodes, so I did end up watching the movie and I loved it as well. Fact is, yes, it is aimed more at the teenage populace as opposed to the children, but we have to accept that Disney is not just a child based TV channel anymore, nor do only children watch it. I know a lot of parents are freaking about it. But Disney has two separate channels, one for children (DisneyXD) and one for regular ages. And even on the channel for regular ages it's all little kid's shows like Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. I really hope the series is taken up for a second season, despite some of the parents outrage. I'd suggest it to anyone around ten, and even my 8 year old sister loves it. It has a sweet story line. If you plan to allow your children to watch Wizards of Waverly place (which is JUST as bad) you should have no problem with allowing your kids to watch My Babysitter's A Vampire. Parents who don't approve due to the vampire's need to cool their jets and look past the supernatural element of the show and enjoy Disney as it always should be. Following the trends of the century and aiming to gain more than just child viewers. I am proud that Disney has decided to stop censoring every little detail of their shows and I hope they continue to make great shows like this. MBAV IS AWESOME!
... View MoreThis how has NO place on Disney. It is terrifying and too adult for children. From creepy adult sized dolls to watching characters wipe blood from their mouths after taking in blood. It is also frustrating to watch the babysitter allow the little girl to watch a scary show, as long as she doesn't tell her parents. This episode also involves a show where they are conjuring up ghosts and spirits. It's nice to have to explain ghosts to a five year old! If you are a parent and have not watched this show.Another issue, is a huge focus on relationships. One scene involves a girl just making out with a guy in a blood van to keep him from talking. This is much more of a tween show. Tweens don't watch Disney Channel, children do. Parents if you haven not seen this show, beware!
... View MoreMy seven year old daughter loves this show, she thinks it's funny and she thinks that the goofy blonde boy vampire is cute. We have been watching the show together, which is currently one of her favorite things to do this summer. The movie was well done and I was surprised it was on Disney, they usually tone down the bad guys and their actions in their shows to silly levels and they did not in this show. I think it's a cute idea for a regular show, and it has a Buffy crossed with Scooby Doo feel to it. The stories are simple but amusing, even to me. The special effects are good and the violence is really low key when it occurs, which as a parent I appreciate. The young cast are really good actors and they seem to be enjoying doing the show. My daughter and I both hope the show continues for another season or two.
