This show is what I consider to be the worst and most poorly written and produced shows ever to be aired on TV. Why? Because Ashley Judd's performance is one of the worst I have ever seen, due to the fact that she's supposed to be a good, tough ex-CIA mother who is looking for her son. Instead, her performance gives the wrong image and it makes her character look more like a fascist woman. It has even led me to hate Ashley Judd.To make matters worse, the poor screen writing by creator Gregory Poirier for the pilot episode leads to people not understand if she is actually a good or bad mother to her son, as he fails to explain one important thing that Ashley said that could explain if she really is a bad mother or not.I've even figured out that most of the cast are well known in Hollywood instead of TV, which leads me to believe that they used this casting as an excuse to cover the terrible writing. When I saw it, I thought it was good, but one year later, I have realized that I made a terrible mistake when I discovered the poor acting by Ashley Judd and screen writing and this will be a mistake I will regret for the rest of my life. So, if you're about to watch this, you're wasting you time, because if you do, you will regret it for a long time like I do. In reality, I think this was a show that deserved to be canceled.
... View MoreI wholeheartedly CONCUR with "julesrulesny" assessment of the network's pulling the plug on "Missing". Did you see the 2012 Emmy broadcast? You know...the awards show wherein NONE of the four original networks were NOMINATED for awards for TV Drama?!!They HAD a good thing in Missing and they BLEW IT. It was severely underestimated and might have been a case of self-fulfilling prophecy. As in, "I think I heard a neighbor of my daughter's who said he didn't like it, so let's pull it off the air".Whatever...Jimmy Kimmel mentioned the absence of the networks (ABC, NBC, CBS, PBS) nominations, tossing it off as the citizenry "wanting to see boobs" which was underestimating the loathing the people of the U.S. have for the original three. If you want good shows, tune in to AMC, Fox, TNT, USA! Screw the networks who are under the thumbs of censors! I worked in the film business for 30 years and have been watching TV Drama for twice that long and MY assessment? Missing...another show too good for TV.
... View MoreI know I'm doing this a little late now that they've canceled the show. But, I wasn't really a fan of this TV series. At points of the show, Ashley Judd's character goes through the unnecessary. Gregory Poirier, I think made this to be too close to Taken. I don't know completely what he could have done to make it better, but there could have been a better plot. Things just went by a little too quick, not giving the next steps in the series to think itself out. I mean Ashley's character agreed with her son going somewhere all the way off in Italy on his own where I think she had no business agreeing with in the first place. Also at times is seems as if the there's no feeling in themselves when they're acting out a scene. At points its sort of dull. I think Gregory knew where he was going but some things just didn't come out right.
... View MoreBefore judging this review, all you Ashley Judd lovers, bear in mind I waited 3 episodes (ok, 2 and half) before writing this! My main concern at the beginning was lack of funds, I couldn't understand why the taxi shot had 1980's style moving window shots that show quite clearly it was not filmed on location, this has then happened a few more times in episodes 2 and 3 and I'm perplexed by it, they're obviously on location in some shots, then not in other's, this makes me wonder how well this was put together (remember Ms. Judd is also producer, amongst other titles/roles!) Aside from this, the action scenes are ridiculous, and the convenience factor is far too high for a primetime show, you expect some, but really, no scratches, injuries, blood?! After so many tussles?! She's that good?! I could maybe believe this, if it wasn't for the fact her spy radar seems off kilter, she gets discovered every five minutes (general not precise), how did she survive...Oh wait, sorry she doesn't get injured thats how! I agree with the views already mentioned, this is a spin off from the film 'Taken' (which I enjoyed), unfortunately, the spin is too much, which is no less evident than the fact that everyone considers it a spin off yet, there is no female abductee, the lead role is female, not male, the locations are slightly different, the sex trafficking element is not there (which means the whole plot changes), and quite frankly, after 2 and half episodes, I don't care what happens!! This for me is an epic fail, with any luck this will deter Ashley Judd from doing anymore television, I won't hold my breath though!
