Aside from the variation created by the setting, McLeod's daughters provides little more than a trite, caricatured image of rural Australia. With uninspiring lead performances and plot lines that belong on a daytime soap, this series will impress only ardent feminists with a romantic perception of outback life. For those who live in regional areas, this series is borderline offensive. An obvious lack of imagination on the part of the production team results in worn stereotypes being dragged from the closet of 1950's Australia. From costume to dialogue, McLeod's Daughters is indicative of the state of Australian film.
... View MoreOK, I'm a man that sometimes watches female-centric programming. Mostly because I like to understand the opposite sex, which I love. And, the women on this show are very attractive. But, like most hetero men, don't always understand what's in their heads. So, I thought I could learn a few things while watching this series from down under. Understandably, and based on all the other feedback from this series, it has been given high marks for story, character development, setting, landscape, actor performance, and everything else. All well-deserved. However, I was especially surprised and amazed at a male-centric episode in Season 5, episode 31, titled "Body and Soul" near the end of the season. I want to recognize Fin Edquist as the writer (I looked it up on IMDb.com) It was the best episode I had seen so far. I won't spoil it, but it was just amazing to see what the men of the story could do. They came through for their women, and brothers, and best friends in spades. Just the kind of heart wrenching story even a guy can appreciate. Keep it coming.
... View MoreMcLeod's Daughters is a great TV series. From the first time I watch each episode. It is without horror and unmotivated nonsense. It's just good entertainment of friendship, love, adventure, just good living.I regret the end of Claire's figure. I found her a very refreshing female character. The male characters in this series (Alex an Nick) are very nice and you do not search any longer for an Adonis. You found it!!I hope this series will go on for a long time so that I can see what happens with Tess, Charlotte etc. A brutally good TV series.
... View MoreMy wife and I got hooked on this series last summer (2005) while in Colorado. It is the type you can watch and enjoy without a lot of vulgarity and cursing. Although we have only watched the show for a year and I guess they have all been re-runs since we only saw the episode where Claire is killed last Saturday ( Mar 25 ). As both of us grew up in rural Texas the show sort of has a soft spot with us. I can imagine the difficulty of women running such a large operation as this without much support from the male population. We are just sorry that Claire had to be written out. She will be missed I am sure, not only by fans but by the show's cast as well. Keep up the good work and please let us know what network will show it after the WE stops. Wayne & Joann
