I just can't get enough of this show. I usually don't watch police shows, as it is the same old same old that has been killing network TV. There are few, if any, original ideas in network TV shows. Then when they finally give you a fresh concept, they wack it after one year, rather than letting it have the chance to grow. Jericho was such a show, Firefly was another. Robert Taylor's depiction of Sherriff Walt Longmire is refreshing. He totally embodies the tough Old West Sherriff in every way. He is a character that will grow on you and continue to surprise you. I am not sure if they have taken this show off the air after six seasons, but I sincerely hope they didn't.

This series has been great watching, I enjoy all the different aspects of Wyoming life/the West the writing touches on in the course of the drama.Having just watched the Season 3 closer, I'm a little miffed with the choice of having Barlow Connally apparently kill his own son at the drop of a hat. I haven't watched further tonight to see if this is so, but this strains belief. Even a sociopath, as Barlow is perhaps meant to be (typical evil rich guy, a TV and film standard type) would surely hesitate before blowing away his own son so lightly. The line he throws out before the shotgun blast is pat, to say the least. On the whole, though, the writing, character development and acting have all been well above par. I enjoy the female characters, particularly, there's a nice believability to them, especially for a modern day western.BTW I think Graham Greene is an especially effective villain as Malachi, and since both Lou Diamond Phillips and A Martinez in major First Nations roles are not Native Americans, it's nice that one major Native American role in the series is acted by an Aboriginal actor (though he's from Canada.) I don't know what Native Americans think of the show but it appears to be trying to present a complex and positive image of Aboriginal people and culture.

They say all the good westerns are from the old days, well I think its still here in Longmire. An all star cast with great writers that have made this show a real treasure. It does a great job in demonstrating the grey areas that make up our world, not the common black and white. It is a great TV series where every character and place has something to give. Now I can't wait to read the book series that started it all. Give this a shot and it will not disappoint you.

I started watching it not sure if I would like it or not and got addicted big time !!! I love this show !!! I watched all the seasons on netflix and now have started watching over again. I think I heard they weren't making another season and I don't know why. What got me first was the girl sheriff ...she's a brilliant actress....so natural. I love Robert Taylor and Lou Diamond Phillips ....they make the show too along with all the actors in it. Just want to say its the best !!!
