This show should be shown around in directing and acting schools as a bad example. It is utterly stupid. The characters are dull and flat, they are completely inhuman, like they are ripped out from a bad soap opera. The story is compelling as long as you can withdraw the stupidity, but after a certain point it is simply dumb. There are major goofs, just to name few: Russel's arm came in contact with the poisonous goo, but it didn't affect him; everybody else died from it... The horrendous and artificial backgrounds. Why the hell do you need artificial background when you're in damn Florida? Did Eddie Cibrian and the girl who plays Kira spend all the budget on coke? Did they do pot with the director, that's why this whole show is so damn stoned? My favorite line from the show (just to exemplify its stupidity): -Oh, dad, you're here! -Yeah, and so are you! It was said during to climax of the whole season, in a very intense moment. It wasn't only bad, it was straight out of a comic show, as if this whole show was supposed to be a comedy. I really tried to give it a shot, but it's rubbish.
... View MoreA script that sees the Sheriffs Deputy cutting off his own arm after the Sheriff tells him to after the Deputy returns from the sea with an arm that had been previously missing after being duplicated by a sea going alien. If that isn't enough to cause most viewers to turn it off I don't know what is. The subsequent cascade of justifications coming from the Sheriff was obviously designed to make the whole thing believable in the context of the story line it only sound like bad scriptwriters trying to salvage trashing their own script by way of being totally stupid for whatever reason. It had real potential up to that point which is about half way through its one season run (no surprise there). Like a hamburger served with salami on it this fails to satisfy in ways that personally I've never seen before. The subtle buildup with the alien theme dead ends at this point in the project leaving viewers looking for their TV guide and an episode of Jeopardy to watch. Ho hum.
... View MoreI hope that they will put the show back on TV and DVD. Recently bought the complete first season which was released in Holland. And it is awesome. Like the whole cast, and Dave character is great! All the drama and thriller aspects. Entangeld with sci-fi elements. Sometimes you can even indulge human behavior on our society nowadays. There are assholes on both sides is what the storyline tells us, but without telling you who really is an asshole. And even there is one season it is fulfilling the red line in the storyline. Alltough it has one big cliffhanger in the end that has to be unfold in a second season. But the main red line of the story of the first season has been unfold.
... View MoreIt is mind-boggling that programs of this caliber, a miracle in the age of Reality Television and other such dreck, could be mercilessly yanked from television due to an out-dated ratings system. Even more incredible is that the series received so many positive reviews here! If it was so popular, what was the problem??? I have been ranting like a lunatic for at least the past two and a half years about this idiotic cancellation. I am still not over it, nor do I ever expect to be. I simply cannot believe that this could happen to a series as perfectly suited to "Lost" on Wednesday as "Psych" is to "Monk" on Friday. Shows like this cannot be dismissed! I just signed an old online petition from 2006, referred to in a review, that aimed to save "Invasion". How frustrating and futile! I am "invaded" by grief . . . I wish I had found it sooner. The document now floats in cyberspace riddled with spam, yet I proudly added my name. And I will continue to rant about the demise of a truly superb production, because the cast and the crew and the writers did an outstanding job. They gave us a creepy atmospheric adventure we will never forget. Alas, it was over much too soon!
