I was 37 when I found this show, so it is not just for teenagers! The music is incredible, I have tons of the songs from the series on my ipod and it adds so much credibility to the story line that the soundtrack is so good. But beyond the music, the characters and acting are great and the dialog is wonderful and truly believable. The story lines capture your attention and hold it. The love stories woven throughout are some of the best I've ever seen! As a music lover, I loved the behind the scenes look at the music business, but to me, above all else, this is one amazing love story(not to mention a cast of beautiful people to watch)!! I bought the whole series on DVD. Be prepared to cry your eyes out, laugh out loud, scream at the TV and sing along.

When I first heard about this show I was like "okay whatever another stupid show" I ain't going watch it. Well I came home from vacation and I was waiting for Degrassi to come on and the N was showing Instant Star.I sat and watched it and ever since then I have been hooked, I thought it was going to be horrible but its not bad at all. I had watched Alexz on "So Weird" so I knew who she was after I saw her name in credits, I also have seen Kristopher in "Brotherhood 3" and he wasn't that bad either but he put on a little weight since the movie. But in the endthe show is really addicting. Also its a plus because that is the kind of stuff you have to deal with when you get into the music business. I mean some of it is romantic crap which is always a plus, because there is not one show on that doesn't have drama. So in the end Watch the show because there is a lot of different things going on in every episode and ITS NOT JUST ANOTHER STUPID SHOW AND ALSO ITS NOT A WASTE OF TIME TO WATCH IT, there has to be someone that you can relate to on the show. lol

The-N is the American network that airs the international sensation Degrassi: The Next Generation. Since the show's success, they've been trying to put together new original programming to back it up. Unfortunaely, most of these shows were even more melodramatic than Degrassi, except less fun. These failures include Just Deal, Out There, Radio Free Roscoe, and now Instant Star. The show chronicles the life of Jude, a 15-year-old singer-songwriter who wins an American-Idol type contest and is catapulted into rock n' roll stardom (complete with a lame celebrity guest appearance every now and then).Having a title that sounds like a generic kind of powdered tuna is not Instant Star's only problem. Degrassi, the shows older (and better) sibling, may be melodramatic, but there are so many different and likable characters that it never feels obnoxious or overbearing. Instant Star is the opposite, since we are watching one bad young actress most of the time who is pretty unlikeable in her role. It also makes us believe that the only thing teenage girls have to worry about is which boy to date- all the other problems are completely unrealistic (just like the premise). The music, which is a major omponent in the show, is utterly cringe-inducing, which goes along nicely with the fact that the main character dresses and kind of sounds like Avril Lavigne. To make matters worse, most of the episode titles are ripped off song titles from bands that used to be edgy before they got signed over to this ridiculousness. In all, it's just a really big waste of time. The-N should just give in and play non-stop Degrassi. It's better than watching this tripe.

I am kind of amazed that every time I visit this board regarding Instant Star, that anyone who has criticized this TV show has had their opinion deleted. Apparently someone in IMDb bought stock on this show. I have watched it a couple of times, and I find it highly annoying. It is not very creative, it is full of stereotypes, and it does not provide any positive role models for teenagers.Instant Star is more along the lines of a Teen Exploitation television show. Lots of relationship issues get explored, and that seems to be what the producers hope will sell the show to teens. Instant Star is as shallow as the shows interns who keep posting rave reviews. No doubt this review will be deleted soon too.
