The only people that are gonna truly enjoy this are liberal sheeple .... it's nothing more than staged propaganda which seems to be all sarah is any good for beyond horribly written and delivered poop jokes......sad
... View MoreTerrific pilot episode everyone else seems to be expecting something run-of-the-mill and spoon fed where Sarah Silverman has always been one of the most unorthodox comedians with some of the most unorthodox TV show formulas if you could call them formulas . I found the Intro musical to be slow and annoying for the first 20 seconds but then funnier as the skit plays out and you begin to realize what she's actually trying to speak to. I thought the interview was great and I thought her visiting the family was great and also I even like the fake show host because it's pretty clear that there's a degree of truth to the things she says about late-night hosts.
... View MoreI just watched episode 1 on Hulu and have to hand it to Sarah Silverman. She's putting herself out there to create a different kind of "talk show" that isn't a talk show at all. I'm a fan of Colbert Report and the Daily Show, and this is TOTALLY DIFFERENT from those. She's trying to personally connect to people who believe radically different things than she does. She's trying to reach out and understand what's going on in this divided country. It's super risky. But Sarah has always gone her own way. Sure, her show makes me feel uncomfortable at times and last night I was unsure where it was going. Any one who's looking for brainless comedy where you get to laugh at other people's stupidity should watch Tosh.O. Bottom line is I Love You, America is relevant and ballsy.
... View MoreComing from Episode One of 'Sarah Silverman's I Love You America' (Which I saw 4 days after its premier because I had no idea that it on.) I really didn't like the opening with the 'I Love You America' song, plus the show's theme song ... It was 5 minutes of wasted time in a 30 minutes episode. She could had just you-tubed the opening song like a promo and just got right to the show.I didn't like the monologue and it felt like the audience wasn't enjoying it either. I've seen her do really good monologue for SNL, but this simple "Hello audience" dragged on. I know that HULU is trying to be a TV format, but it's internet streaming entertainment; The close-ups of a nude man & woman would have been funny if it were on (say) Sunday morning NBC, but this is the internet. You aren't going to startle people that can google videos of poo-porn with 3 minutes of Scott's penis & Stella's boobs. You could probably fix the whole opening if Sarah could jibe about the week's events live, but I heard it's pre-recorded three days ahead time.I loved when Sarah went to Chalmette, Louisiana and met with the Standers family. It's exactly what should have been the focus of this half-hour show. It's an example of Southerners that New Yorkers, Californians, or most Yankees won't believe about the South - We're nice people who can get along with just about anybody. This was the conversation that Sarah promised for 'I Love You America' and it was funny, adorable, charming, and full of heart.I wish the entire show focused on Sarah's "field trips" and I wish it were an hour long. It's the sole reason I will continue to watch more. I know that this is mostly about talking with people that voted for Donald Trump. But what I'd rather see is Sarah showing the rest of the country who Southerners really are. I know the South as friendly and inviting, while I've listened to people on the West Coast passionately argue with me that Southerners are a bunch of ignorant bigots because "statistics don't lie". With everything Hollywood perpetuates about non-Northeners, it would be a welcome change.Megan Phelps-Roper, formerly of the Westboro Baptist Church, was the final 10 minutes of the episode. It's more of an update of where Megan is in her life. The media followed her & her family pretty closely for years up until her departure. I liked her as a guest, but it wasn't anything new/interesting for me. It seemed like a really short interview. Also the silliness afterwards with Sarah walking away from Megan to get in bed - came across as rude. I know she didn't mean to play it out like that. It was just a stunt to point back at a previous joke where she couldn't sleep without 'Law & Order' reruns. But yeah it didn't work out that way.All in all, I like Sarah Silverman. I like her going on field trips to meet conservatives, but I wish it were more about popping the liberal bubble. I remember an episode of 'The Daily Show' when they went to a southern town and had two gay men announce their engagement just to get a reaction out of a group of people ... Jon Stewart was shocked that people applauded them. I love when preconceived notions get an eye-opening experience and I think 'I Love You America' has a great opportunity to do this every week.
