I'm a great fan of Green wing, but only Series 1.Series 1 was sharp, witty, and utterly random, following a small storyline but ultimately being a sequence of entwined sketches based around a set of characters.Series 2 turned this on its head. It followed a (bad) storyline, which was a vague progression of the first.. but It did so at the expense of the comedy that was so brilliantly executed in series 1.The opening of series 2 was surreal, and poor. From that point onwards it get worse, and seemed to change plot just for the sake of it. There were repeated scenarios thrown in, jokes stolen from series 1, and a lot of the comedy was strained. Michelle Gomez (sue White) lost her edge and was frankly absurd and embarrassing rather than entertaining. Tamsin Greig was her usual excellent self, but we saw far too much of those boots.. didn't she own any other shoes? Alan Statham (played by the excellent Mark Heap)... well they just seemed to run out of ideas for him and resorted to trademark jerky movements and incomprehensible outbursts. But, the biggest travesty of Green Wing, is the peculiar presence (or lack of) the excellent Sarah Alexander as Angela, coming in randomly and seldomly throughout both series. An utter waste of her talent.. she was given few lines, and hardly any integration into the plot. It was random, and bewildering. I'm a huge fan (for differing reasons ;) ) and she was wasted in this series. So, great first series, one of the best comedies ever.. just don't expect much of the same for the second as you'll be disappointed.

This has to be the best show around at the moment! I recently watched series 2 on TV, and that was brilliant. So I then decided to buy this DVD. Series 1 is just as good!! All of the characters are great, if not slightly strange! My favorite characters are the girls who work in the office, they produce the funniest moments in the program. Sue White is just brilliant. Although i recognise that it doesn't appeal to some people, (though I can't for the life of me see why anyone wouldn't like it!!) if you do like it, the DVD is worth getting! The commentaries are by the cast, and are therefore hilarious, and there are great deleted scenes. In my opinion, Green Wing has made the world a better place. Buy it.If you want to find something new to watch then this is it. Buy this DVD!! Now!

If you don't get what i've just written then obviously you have never watched the MIGHTY green wing (shame on you). I can't remember the last time I enjoyed a programme this much (may have been back in the days of the crystal maze) and actually pre-ordered the DVD's. I was devastated when it ended. The characters (especially Sue White and Guy) were written and suited for the actors perfectly. The script was genius and in my opinion puts other hospital comedies to shame (yes that means scrubs as well)Well worth watching and highly recommended.'ALAN STATHAM, YOU KNOW IT MAKES SENSE'!!!

Green Wing is unbelievably original in itself and between episodes. Before 2004 I'd never heard of any of the cast and now they are at the top of my 'to-meet' list. Michelle (Sue White) gives an outstanding performance as staff liaison officer who is confined, most of the time, to her office and manages to think of a different crazy stunt for every Sue-scene. Julian and Tamsin (Mac and Caroline) bring the drama to the show in the most hilarious way possible do really take centre stage a lot of the time, excluding operating theatre scenes where Steve (Guy) stands completely centred and gets away with being the only one not wearing a mask. Boycie, Statham, Joanna and the office girls bring the outrageously bizarre comedy from Pippa (Joanna) having needles in her face to post-its on heads. Karl Theobald plays the forgetful and slow Dr Dear with some family issues going on. Victoria and her team of writers piece together a sound script and leave room for Steve and Michelle to ad-lib. Green Wing is truly the best television comedy ever. Credit to the editors too because their work shines. :D
