A interesting and on-going theme of the show has been Joan's long-run of boyfriends. In some way or another, I've liked them all except "Ellis". Ellis has that little white boy voice that puts one in mind of Opie. Like some other characters, e.g. Maya, he plays his role so well that it makes one think that the actor is much like the character. Simlarly, Maya really comes across as arrogant and always expecting people to give to her, while she has no obligation to anyone (even her employer as an employee).Further, for some reason I just don't care for any of Maya's family, her husband is obnoxious, son is disrespectful to adults and her mom is as arrogant as Maya.

I truly have been enjoying all the characters featured on Girlfriends. Their talent is so deep and rich that I have to remind myself they are actually actors and not real life characters. Having said that I know you will agree with me that it is because of their true talent which is so convincing, compelling and genuine to life that I can almost believe in the reality of the characters as true to life.I look forward to "many" more seasons of "my" Girlfriends! Congratulations "Girlfriends" for your success of the past and the future with "CW".Debbie

Lynn, Joan, Tony and Mya and sometimes William. All i can say is that the chemistry is great the acting is great and the show is also great. It is as if each episode is funnier than the previous. The producers are really doing a good job. In fact if i compare it to the parkers and soul food which i believe were also great..i think this out shines them By far. I just hope the ending ..if there is to be an end ..will not be rushed and messed up ...just like that of soulfood and parkers.Man this is a comedy for any race.....do not miss out on it....as a Ghanian living in Africa....i don't have any issues with any of the Topics being discussed in this comedy so therefore i am in the best position to judge this programme...and like the majority of the reviewers wrote..this is definitely a "must see" show. I also hope it Comes out on DVD soon, so that i can have my very own copy. I think it is one of the best comedies ever...and it has good plots and the Characters are well defined.Dalai..Ghana - West Africa

I am a white woman who lives in a small rural town in the Midwest. I have always lived in small rural towns where there is very little racial diversity. I love this show for many reasons. It is wonderful to see into the lives of these women and see the differences in what I am familiar with but also how these differences are about what make us all the same as women of any color. I love seeing how these girls deal w/sex and how for Maya and Joan it is a spiritual sacred thing as well as a physical. How even though they are all African Americans, there are differences in who they are as black women from which section of the country and how far into the city they were raised. Toni is so stuck on herself and so materialistic yet considers herself too black. Joan is motherly, classy and a little snobby yet occasionally she is accused of not being black enough. Maya is tough and street smart yet flaunts her faith and her family ties in everyones face. Lynn is beautiful and from a middle class white family but has no values at all. Tracee is beautiful. Sometimes she can have that "funny face" comedy thing going on with her eyes being so out there but I would die for her cheekbones and her skin color is radiant. I do not like how they make fun of white people. I think there is enough racial intolerance today w/out this, but I suppose that it is to be expected for now. This show is on UPN here and is in reruns. I don't get cable so I am thankful for this. There are very few shows I watch, but this one is in my daily schedule.
