It's no surprise this dog lasted only season. The acting was adequate...not brilliant but not terrible but the writing.....about as plausible as recycled Hawaii five-0. Imagine a super-cool young cop....rides a pocket rocket...always first there at a major bust....snitching to the biggest baddest gang in town and goes by to see the crime boss.....and still somehow escapes the notice of his fellow officers and civilians...nobody knows he's a rat....incredible. He manages to chat the head of the division into NOT proceeding a certain way so he can warn his gang buddy and when the crime boss' son is riddled with several hundred machine gun rounds he still manages to survive......apparently tougher than a Timex watch. If corny dated and ridiculous plots are your thing then have at it...this may be the show for you. The ratings say people like it but the single season says the network read behind the headlines and saw it for the failure it was. Not really worth a single look. Pass me by.

LAPD detective Ryan Lopez (Ramon Rodriguez) is the new young buck in the Gang Task Force. Sam Chapel (Terry O'Quinn) leads the task force and his daughter Jessica (Shantel VanSanten) is the assistant D.A. Jessica and Ryan start dating but nobody knows his deep dark secret. He's been the undercover mole for crime lord Javier Acosta (Cliff Curtis). He was the childhood friend to Daniel Acosta (Jay Hernandez) and has essentially been adopted into the family after his father's death. Javier Acosta claims to be transitioning the family into legitimate business. However the drug business keeps pulling the family deeper and deeper. Daniel is trying to be a legal investment banker. Javier's other son Carlos (Reynaldo Gallegos) is a street thug. This is a perfectly fine cops and criminals TV serial. While there isn't anything particularly new, this had a chance of developing into something better. The most important ingredient is the acting talent involved. Ramon Rodriguez is a solid lead. Terry O'Quinn is also pretty good. The best is Cliff Curtis. He has always been a compelling actor. He's not simply an one-dimensional villain. He is the reason that this show is better than the material.

I can't say that I was riveted from the beginning, by the end of episode 1 however I felt like I had found something that could possibly fill my Breaking Bad void.Overall this show has a great story line, nicely paced action sequences and is chockablock full of characters that are believable as actual people.I love Cliff Curtis, I may be a little biased because we're from the same hood (NZ) but he is fantastic in this role. The way that he makes this character a fully fleshed out individual is amazing.. generally 'bad guys' end up being 1 dimensional douche bags. Awesome job.My favorite character is Carlos, I love him, I hate him and I sympathise with him. Reynaldo Gallegos is a master of his craft in my eyes. I really hope that what I've been reading is not true, if the show were canceled I feel that we would be missing out on his story which imo is the most interesting so far.Love it. Enough said.

This series gets better every week. Tonight, the series finale, was phenomenal. The first few episodes were good, but as the series progresses, it gets better and better and better. I'm sorry now that I have to wait till the next season to pick up where they left off. Actors are fantastic, and of course, so are the writers. There are some good shows on TV, i.e. the Tbe Black List, Bluebloods, Black Box, Rush, Hawaii 50, Nashville, Revenge, and I am enjoying every single one of them PLUS many more; and I have to say, that Gang Related is up there with the best! Don't LET THEM CANCEL THIS ONE!!!! Too many of the good ones have been canceled, and this one has to stay.
