Elfen Lied is a very sad anime but it's very beautiful at the same time. This anime was well worth my time even tho it was only 13 episodes long. The story in this anime is dramatic and gruesome, the characters are interesting and well developed, the gore is great, the music is great, the voice acting is very good in Japanese(tho I feel the dub could've been better) plus the animation isn't too bad either. The anime's faults however is that it starts of rather slow but then it picks itself up as it progress's. It's also not for people have weak hearts and can't take very dark storytelling (even tho I think this is what made the anime great). It's also quite short too. The emotions I got from this anime made me feel sad, happy, angry and so on. It's one of the saddest animes I have ever seen and I recommend it to people who like dark/sad animes.
... View MorePersonal opinion and facts. 13 episode show dubbed and subbed the dub is well not great I hear the sub is better huh. Characters are Lucy,Kouta, Yuka, Mayu, Nana, Kurama, Bando, Mariko. Story girl escapes secret facility loses memory of who she is and how to speak finds Kouta he hides and protects her from whoever is looking for her regains memories protects him from harm leaves and disappears without trace.Aired in 2004. Story was amazing but the voice for the characters didn't do well. Honestly this is like school days but dubbed. Don't get me wrong the story is great but the dub it was awful. This show is not all bad compared to School Days.Overall this is a tremendous show it doesn't lack anything but a good dub. The first episode the first few minutes is amazing, except if you hate blood

View MoreSo this was the 2. anime series I have ever seen and I'm truly glad that I watched it.The whole story and the past of every character was told very well that made me pay respect to anime for a life. The first 3-4 episodes didn't impress me too much and I'm happy that I kept going. I very liked that you didn't know much about what happened to the characters before we see them the very first time and as the series continues you get to know more about each character's past by these flash backs of memories. The only little problem I had is that sometimes the nudity was unnecessary but it is not a big deal. Also the first time I felt like the theme song was a bit overused but then I realized that some scened would've been much worse whit out it.Overall Elfen Lied is a truly amazing but depressing story whit some beautiful artistic elements. And have some tissue ready! 9/10
... View MoreWe start on a research facility, with a fem-fatal (Lucy) imprisoned. she manages to escape (by going on a murderous and gory rampage) just as she stood on the brink to freedom, she was shot in the head and fell into the ocean. Lusy was thereafter found on a beach by Koto and his cousin Yuka (Yuka is pursuing a incestuous relationship with Koto)I tried to like this show i really did, but it's so hard to forgive the characters when they do not act human,i cannot forgive the characters nonsensical decisions. The show is way too praised by it's fans, i might have had too high expectations, but seriously? Are the characters meant to be unrealistic and incomparable, if so they nailed it. i am pretty sure the only sensible decision that was made in show, was when Koto asked Mayu's mother for custody. I mean, when is the last time you found a naked girl on the beach, and just brought her into your house instead of bringing her to the police? (she did rub her boob against Koto back so i guess that's completely justified....right?) i know that's unfair, but still you have got to admit i does not make any sense. Even the flashback scenes, that are suppose to make me feel for the characters suffers from unrealistic characters. e.g. Lucy's flashback with the bullies, it's not realistic, no child is that mean spirited or cruel (to kill a puppy...no child would do that) or her flashback with Koto where she's "inlove" with him, how old is she 5, although i do not know i am pretty sure a 5 year old cannot be "inlove"To the shows credit it does manage to produce one truly dark and realistic moment (Mayu's flashback) i cringe just by the thought. The ending, was also decent it was touching, to see Kurama die with his daughter.Ultimately though, this does not make up for 11 episodes of nonsensical and unrealistic decisions and characters.P.S. did anybody else find it weird that Koto liked Nyuu, i mean she was presented like she was 3 years old. also Nyuu "horns" looked like ears just saying.
