I've been watching this show for roughly 2 months now, and I can say I have enjoyed it. I will say much of the show is very dumb, the comedy and the acting aren't the best, but the best way to describe it is "dumb fun". I've never looked at this show for a plot that makes a lot sense, I would say it's the TV equivalent of an action movie, or a superhero movie (Closer to Marvels, it's not that bad). However, one thing I have noticed lacking in reviews of the show is the fact that in almost every episode they are constantly showing off women's bodies. I'm not a parent or anything, I just feel this needs to be said. Not offended, it's just important for parents who plan to watch the show with their kids. You're going to see the show glamourizing women more as objects than people. Many of the women they bring in as characters are kind of just there to look pretty. They don't really do anything important or mean anything, they are kind of just eye candy. Moving on from there I'm just going to summarize the show, the plot is pretty basic, the comedy is OK With some jokes being hilarious, and others being offensively bad. Only a couple of the characters are developed in good ways, others just kind of ruin them, although they weren't amazing to begin with. The action scenes are OK, they're nothing special in a TV show like this from this time period. If you're looking for a filler show, or just something fun to watch, or maybe just something to have on in the background if you're eating dinner alone then this is the show for you.
... View MoreThis is my third time through the "Chuck" TV series. And while it hasn't held up over time the way I thought it would, it's still better than the average American TV show, although it's not without its flaws. Unlike other shows that try to blend drama and comedy and fail miserably, "Chuck" manages to pull it off very well. It weaves previous back stories into current episodes creatively, and introduces new characters in an intelligent, believable way. It also offers up some sharp, powerful twists and despite having consistently annoying characters, it still manages to make them likable (unlike the consistently UNLIKABLE characters in Lost, for example). So the show works well as an ensemble, because we learn to care about the characters, despite their flaws. But more than anything else, "Chuck" is a love story -- not only Chuck and Sarah, but also Ellie and Devon, Chuck and his parents, Sarah and her parents, Casey and his daughter, etc. Still, the main focus is on Chuck and Sarah -- the nerd and the super sexy bombshell. And while Zachary Levi and the rest do a decent enough job selling their characters and story arcs, for me, the star of the show remains Yvonne Strahovski. There is just something about her that is mesmerizing. And it's not just her beauty, which is obvious. Or even the fact that she can make her strong Aussie accent completely disappear to the point that no one would ever guess she's not a natural born American actress. No, it's the way she can present complex characterizations in both bold AND subtle ways, unlike most other actresses I've seen. So while other elements of "Chuck" have tarnished somewhat over time, her star continues to shine more brightly than ever. I can't think of any other TV series that I've watched all the way through 3 times and enjoyed as much. And the reason I've watched (and enjoyed) "Chuck" so many times is because I just can't get enough of Ms. Stahovski.
... View MoreSkip last one. with all the overacting, cheesy drama, over the top interactions and quirkiness, it also have some funny 80s throwbacks, decent production, a cast that grow on you . mix of comedy, over the top spy stuff, family drama. in the last season 5 they changed the story line and diminished somehow the action and accenting the funny drama. This show is unrealistic and had is cheese humors but also may be very entertaining if you enjoy, try first 2 episodes , you can decide! just fast forwards on the drama parts.
... View MoreNo series can compete with this. And yes it has many many plot holes and goofs but there's still something in it that is just truly unremarkable. You just can't compare Chuck to other shows for example Breaking Bad (which is also one of my favourites). And even if on "paper" Breaking bad has a better plot, actors, production value, cinematography etc. There's just something about this show. It's really believable and relatable. I really recommend to watch this. The best!
