This was a great show I enjoyed watching on Saturday mornings when I was a kid in the 80s it was a great show, great memories, too bad it doesn't get airing on the Cartoon Network or Boomerang, because it is deserving of it, what set this one apart is that it had something for all ages, it was like a toned down version of the Simpsons for Saturday mornings, and it was still very funny. And it wasn't tied to some merchandise or some funky tasting cereal like many cartoons were back then, just issues that kids were dealing with back then and even now, and even as an adult if they decided to bring this to DVD, I would get it also, it was fun 80s style.

its 2008 i am currently 21 years old, i spent much time with John Candy and his bunch of goofy campers. i watched it after elementary school at 2 or 3 in the afternoon in Charlotte NC. this show i remember was amazing i watched it every day. john candy was an amazing actor, this show added much to his legacy. i am disappointed in the lack of info on this TV show......i recently found the cartoon on the internet,, it really brought back memory's but was equally entertaining,,this show screams Canada which makes it even more entertaining... because as we all know Canadians are Camping (INTENSE)).... Steve Nash!!!! John Candy lives!!!

Yeah, sure, "Camp Candy", I definitely remember enjoying this show. Or rather it was the only thing on at that particular hour that didn't make me want to gouge my eyeballs out. Truth be that in 1990 or so when this was being broadcast on our local Fox affiliate I was in college & was a regular advocate of the use of a certain recreational psychedelic that was notorious for depriving it's users of sleep -- I could never "crash" immediately afterward, and would usually be up well into the morning of the next day before expiring. The reason why "Camp Candy" came to my attention is that it aired on Sunday mornings, Saturday being the preferred Magical Mystery Tour evening. I'd usually wander home during the early morning hours to catch local syndicated re-runs "The Dukes of Hazzard" or "Emergency" and just leave the TV on, and after seeing it two or three times by accident came to look forward to "Camp Candy" as a Sunday morning come-down alternative to staring at a blank wall or the ceiling while trying to get some shuteye. As can be expected I remember squat of the shows themselves, but I distinctly recall enjoying John Candy's voicework and the animation.I'd glom onto a complete series DVD box set in a heartbeat though, if only for the nostalgic novelty, but I do remember it having a certain appeal that other material of the ages like "The Smurfs" never did, in my eyes. It also wasn't just a toy commercial, there wasn't any associated merchandising and the presence of John Candy resulted in some amusing guest spots with people like Andrea Martin and I think Eugene Levey. In any event it would be welcome, I hope that somebody remasters the series for DVD, it would sell.5/10, which is a neutral rating rather than a reflection of the shows merits -- I simply and understandably don't remember much, except that I enjoyed it and looked forward to it after a while.

I remember this one quite well. It used to air on NBC's Saturday Morning line-up back in the late 80's-early 90's, and later on Fox (Now ABC) Family. This cartoon featured John Candy in animated form operating a summer camp with an assortment of kids. There was your cool kid, your snobby kid, your athletic kid, your geeky kid, and your small fry kid (these are the kids I do recall were on this cartoon). Overall, this show was great. I hope they bring this one back, but knowing TV networks anymore, that sadly won't be likely. This gets a 10/10.
