No one writes good comedy as well as the Brits, full of sarcasm.....love it.
... View MoreTruth is, I find Boomers very funny. Again, it is not supposed to be dramatic or intense, just something that is for the laugh. You can sit back and enjoy it with your family. Most people judges Boomers from the start but I believe that it has quite many potentials. The show does, indeed, get funnier later on in the series. The show is entertaining, wonderful cast ( mostly Philip Jackson, who I can recognize from Poirot) and is very relate-able. I find the characters sharing personality traits that I can see in my older relatives. I believe that the people who were quick to give this show a 1 star were expecting a more dramatic, silly kind of comedy show. Boomers is your old-fashioned sitcom, funny and relate-able.

But if you have been around the block far too many times, and find that age has reduced your "friendships" to a handful of friends, then you are the target audience for Boomers. It helps if you can laugh at your self to really enjoy these characters because you know them too well. The familiar are here, the bored husbands, the well-intentioned but bossy wife (wives), and the endless semi-joyless days of retirement. Admit it, the golden years aren't golden for everyone. Here those irritants get played for good natured laughs. Comedy based on real issues—an aging is as real as they get—can hit close to home, and I suspect more than one sixty plus boomer has cast a baleful eye at the spouse while watching this series. Good cast and they play off of each other well. I was pleased to see Philip Jackson, the intrepid Inspector Japp from Poirot. Others you might recognize from some of their mouth youthful roles: I recall Stephanie Beacham (The Colbys and Dynasty) and her Playboy photo spread. And the series has a great sound track that changes from episode to episode but someone does a great job matching the song to the prevailing theme.
... View MoreI am watching a lot of good actors that seem to be stuck in a farce. It cannot be compared with the excellent Last Tango in Halifax. Crap, utter crap.Apparently I need to have 10 lines in order for me to express my displeasure. Fine. I suppose that I am annoyed because these poor sad buggers are in my age group, and the characters they portray are caricatures of real people. Hoping it will improve, because there are a lot of actors in it that I admire greatly. Stay tuned ..... If you can be bothered! June Whitfield has just said she can't be bothered, and, thinking about it, neither can I.How this got onto the BBC, I will never know.
