'Beavis & Butt-head' struck a chord with me for one reason and one reason only. It is because everyone knows a Beavis and a Butt-head in reality - you went to school with them, you worked with them, you may even be related to them. It was the creation of Mike Judge ( who also voiced the characters ) and was broadcast by MTV in 1993.Beavis and Butt-head are two delinquent teenagers from Texas who when not fantasising about sex or slacking off from school or work ( they both have a part time job at a burger joint ) are to be found revelling in their love for rock music. Metallica fan Beavis has a voice so high pitched it could pierce ear drums while AC-DC lover Butt-head ( who also sports an oral brace ) looks and sounds as though he's been doped to the eyeballs.Intersperesed with their sketches were popular music videos of the day in which Beavis and Butt-head would narrate their opinions on the song while it played. Truth to tell, I did not really care much for the music videos. I tuned in entirely for the sketches themselves. In 1996, 'Beavis & Butt-head' made the jump to the cinema screen for their hilarious feature film - 'Beavis & Butt-head Do America'.Yes, it was stupid and yes, it was crass and disgusting but it wasn't half funny. Basically, it was an animated version of 'Bottom', only with teenagers instead of middle-aged men. 'The Simpsons' may well be the best American comedy of all time, but 'Beavis & Butt-head' in my opinion runs a close second.

In 1993, a short cartoon came out on MTV that was practically all music videos named Beavis and Butt-head. None of the producers ever guessed that it would revolutionize TV as we know it! Beavis and Butt-head, who are two idiotic teenagers who spend most of their time watching music videos and making crude comments about them were the main characters and whenever they weren't on the couch, they were testing the patience of the town around them, Highland. The staff at Highland High, Beavis and Butt-head's high school, were all hilarious! These two idiots were the first time kids were portrayed realistically on TV and opening up the floodgates for other sick and twisted cartoons! All in all, long live Beavis and Butt-head, or something. Huh huh huh.

Mike Judge made many gems like King Of The Hill and Office Space. But way before any of those were released, he made his greatest gem of all time, Beavis And Butthead. The story of two boys around 18 or 19 who still can't pass high school whose lives are pointless is hilarious without being over the top, or ludicrous. Considering it is about two of the dumbest people alive, it's an extremely smart show. I like the fact that these guys are so care-free they don't care about their well-being. For example, they live in a dump of a house, and whenever one get hurts the one who's not hurt starts laughing, and then the one who's hurt starts laughing, too. They don't care if they never finish high school. Their only goal is to have sex before they die. That's what makes them strangely delightful. This is one of the best shows that the 90's created. It is genuinely funny and very smart, but not too outrageous, and rather than being unlikable (which you think they would be), the two characters are strangely delightful. A truly great show I think you should check out.

Man, I loved this show as a kid and still do today! It seems that back in the 90's, Beavis and Butt-head were blamed for everything. Causing kids to set fire, teaching kids to sniff paint thinner, stealing credit cards and getting in trouble with cops. This was back in the 90's, when people didn't have Grand Theft Auto to blame all the world's problems on. Something that made me mad, in November, 2005, MTV released a three disc DVD set called "Beavis and Butt-head: The Mike Judge Collection.". The DVD set claimed "Director's Cut", but guess what? They WERE actually cut! Put's a whole new definition on "Director's Cut", doesn't it? Another weird thing, the episodes on the disc's aren't in chronological order. A thing that annoyed me, "Way Down Mexico Way" isn't featured on the disc, and I loved that episode. I say, buy the DVD's for 25 euro or less (that's, 39 USD, 40 AUD, 19 Pounds, 39 CAD, etc...). The show rocks, end of story.
