Acting is average at best and show content is too adult for Disney Channel. This show's content belongs on Freeform not Disney. Some of the trash on this show belongs on HBO. Little kids watch Disney Channel so shame on you!
... View MoreThe first season was one of picking out who had the worst haircut (everybody but Buffy). The second season is well under way and one can pretty much settle on how the series only has three actors of any ability (Lilan Bowden, Sofia Wylie and Emily Skinner), while everybody else seems to just accept a lower level of competence and offer only script recitation. And it's stupid to have a junior highschooler, who hasn't even held hands with anybody (though a kiss went badly-- been there), misunderstand his feelings for his buddy and go on to misinterpret them as homosexuality (an act predicated on, well, past experience having sex, by definition, and something he hasn't even begun to do yet with anybody). And why do many Disney shows depict the blonde girl as either the mean one or the insignificantly dumb one? So much for girl empowerment! The network oftentimes show guts, such as introducing gay characters in the seventh grade (I met my first one in my sixth grade class-- in farm country), but typically won't put anybody except Southern Christian blondes in the lesser companion/adversarial roles. And that sixth grader I knew was unabashedly busy in his pursuits! Disney won't show that sort of quail hunt I'm sure!
... View MoreAccording to two entertainment websites (look at them for yourself) this show is going to have one of their main characters coming out as gay and have a story line which Disney Channel is a first for them. This is the same network that ended "Good Luck Charlie" right after it had a lesbian couple in one episode that aired January 28, 2014 and left a gay kiss out from their most recent movie and thought that a main female character would come out from another recently ended series that never gotten another season.
... View MoreI like the show, but I'm curious, WHY is the father a white guy? I would be OK with a white guy as the father (or stepfather) I'm just curious. As Disney is supposed to be "diverse", the Asian family is the ONLY family depicted as mixed. Our country already has issues with the depiction of Asian males and Disney (I would expect) would be one of the FIRST to step up and change the stereotypes. Unfortunately, this isn't the case.I love the show, the cast, but the exclusion of an Asian male lead just shows me that even Disney isn't ready to change that issue with Hollywood.
