In 1988, a teenage girl's life is thrown into chaos when her mother disappears. The problem with White Bird in a Blizzard is how it chooses to use represent it's characters and how it's so tough to actually feel bad about someone in this movie for example it was really weird to see Thomas Jane and Shailene Woodley sleeping together, the word F*ck was in like every single scene and the ending was horrible in more ways than one. Now the good stuff except the nude scenes Woodley is very different both in the way she looks and acts and she really challenged herself a lot, Eva Green was good but her character didn't got enough screen time, Christopher Meloni ruined the film for me he was good until that ending came out this film is definitely much better than Gone Girl which was pretty dull and full of horrible characters but don't except anything more than just an alright film with a good idea, great actors and a very awful ending (6.4/10)

This movie is a hard movie to rate I feel, although many scenes are well orchestrated together as a movie it just doesn't make you feel anything, and the ending is clearly meant to be moving and shocking but it's really not.Acting is... Okay, it's not bad but again the cast fail to make you sympathise with any of them, visually it's really good looking so that's always a plus but a lot of times the movie seems more focused on showcasing Shailene Woodley's breasts than anything else. Now there's nothing wrong with them at all, in fact they are pretty neat however I'd prefer her keeping her clothes on if that meant that the director could focus on telling the story in it's best way as possible.Listed as a drama/mystery/thriller but the drama that is feel too flat and superficial to ever hit an emotional core, even though it tries in the end but by then it's too late and based on how the characters interacted with each other previous having that boastful dramatic ending simply does not make much sense. As far as the mystery well... sure there is some mystery I suppose but there are only so many ways it can end so it doesn't become very successful in that department either, plus most times it focuses on the teenager's sex-life more than anything else.As far as the thriller goes, well even less there going on honestly, there's not many scenes of suspense here to be found. No tbh it felt like this movie would work a lot better if they did it as a dark comedy and went a little more crazy with it, I think the movie could have succeeded at being that with just minor tweaks to the script.I was debating whether to give it a 5 or a 4 but after writing down my thoughts here it has to be a 4 after all, there is talent involved but the movie just kinda feels a bit pointless.

It's 1988. Seventeen year old Kat Connors (Shailene Woodley) has a seemingly perfect suburban life from the outside. However, her mother Eve (Eva Green) had grown tired of her father Brock (Christopher Meloni) over the years. She belittles him all the time and then she vanishes. Detective Scieziesciez (Thomas Jane) investigates but there are no leads. Kat seeks affections from her dumb boyfriend Phil from across the street and help from her psychiatrist Dr. Thaler (Angela Bassett). This is part coming-of-age movie and part mystery. The most important word is part. This is partly good. Shailene Woodley is a winning actress and she keeps interest in the movie. The mystery part is pushed aside for the first hour and then it lays an obvious big clue right in the face of the audience. For the first hour, I keep waiting for Kat to start looking into the mystery but she does everything except that. After the big giant clue, the story stops to be a mystery and I'm waiting for Kat to see the big flashing neon sign. It's a complete fail as a mystery but Shailene is still a compelling actress. There are a couple of twists at the end but it's a bit too late.

I usually don't like movies like this where you're not completely sure what's going on, and it's sort of slow and flashbacky. But I have to say I liked this film. A lot more than even anticipated. I'm an Eva Green fan, so that's why I wanted to watch it. I didn't know what to think as far as what happened to Eve. There was a lot of sex and I can't say I hated it. I liked Phil and Kat's relationship but it was really hot when she slept with the detective because he was sexy for an older man. As soon as they started taking newspapers off the freezer I suspected that's where Eve would be. And the dream that Kat had definitely confirmed it. But oh my gosh. The ending. I did NOT see that coming!!!! When Eve opens the door, I figured maybe the dad and Mae would be doing it, but HOLY COW IT'S THE DAD AND PHIL!!!! WTF!!!! I was yelling, telling my cat that I did NOT see that one coming! So that made the movie more enjoyable yet. It was slow, but in a good way. It kept me watching and wanting more.
