1st Match: Ultimo Dragon vs Psychosis. This isn't a typical lucha match, more of a fave vs heel match, the problem with that is that neither guy is really good at the tactics. The crowd's into it for sure, but the match is slow aside from a few spots. There's enough high spots for me to like the match though. Rating: 3.5/52nd Match: Harlem Heat vs The Steiners. This is another one of those pointless "#1 Contenders matches" where a team wins, but don't get a title shot because Hall, Nash, and Hogan have a death grip on them. The match is decent, both teams get good shots in, but it ends in a DQ via a run-in from Vincent. So the win is tarnished and doesn't do either team any favors. Rating: 3/53rd Match: Konnan vs Hugh Morrus. these guys were a tag team for about a month and then broke up after their loss at Slamboree. That backstory is more interesting than this match. This is boring as hell. Neither guy has any cardio, and they get winded after 4 minutes. The match then crawls along for another 6 minutes with both guys trying to catch their breath the whole time. They weren't even doing anything cardio heavy. Holy God! Please stick these guys in tag matches from now on, or just don't make them have matches longer than 2 minutes. Rating: 1/54th Match: Glacier vs Wrath. Mortis is handcuffed to the ringpost, in order to prevent interference, but it happens anyway, so that stipulation's dead in the water. Speaking of dead in the water, all three of these guy's gimmicks are too. With no connection to the crowd, a stipulation that's DOA, and no titles on the line, this 10 minutes match feels like 3 hours. It doesn't even matter who wins, because I'll be genuinely surprised if any of them last longer than 6 more months. Rating: 1/55th Match: Madusa vs Akira Hokuto, Title vs Career match. If Madusa loses, she must retire, which doesn't concern me, because her matches have never blown me away. Speaking of "blown away", Madusa blows her knee out and sells it like it's broken for half the match. Good storytelling, the commentators sell it well, and Madusa actually loses. Whether or not her career in WCW is officially over is another story. Also serious heel points to Mean Gene for hounding Madusa as she's carried to the back. Rating: 3/56th Match: Meng vs Chris Benoit, Death match. This is a return match from last month, typical "trying to recapture magic" situation. It lacks the physicality of their last match, but both guys at least try. The match is good, it's just very obvious to me that the suits were looking for another knock out between these two. Benoit wins, thus moving him up to hopefully destroy Kevin Sullivan and end the Dungeon of Doom forever. Rating: 4/57th Match: Kevin Greene vs Steve McMichael. This is a rematch one year in the making. It makes up for Mongo's lack of skill by just being a fight. Greene brings a good amount of intensity, and Mongo plays heel well. The Briefcase of Death is used for the 1,865th time, but it hits Mongo this time and Greene wins. A decent brawl saves what could've been an awful match. Rating: 3/58th Match: The Outsiders vs Ric Flair and Roddy Piper, WCW World Tag Team Championships. Oh hey, Hall and Nash finally decided to defend their belts. Just a reminder that they've had them almost a year and only defended them like 4 times. Flair and Piper hype the crowd up, but Flair eventually chases Waltman off, leaving Piper alone. Piper gets beat down way too long, and the nWo wins again. I guess it told a good story, and Flair was great, but it felt long for only 10 minutes. Rating: 3/59th Match: DDP vs Randy Savage, Falls Count Anywhere. Way to end the night on a high note. as usually with any good match like this, it goes everywhere. Into the crowd, up the ramp, they even destroy the random VIP cookout picnic area. Refs are KOd, Savage goes crazy, uses his wife as shield, all the usual heel stuff. The biggest negative is that Hall comes in and finishes off Page, allowing Savage to get the win. As much as I hate the nWo winning via run-in for like the 8th show in a row, but I think it helped Page a little. If anything it continues their fight for another day. A crazy good way to end a night. Rating: 4/5Final Rating: 6 out of 10, If you can get past the two trash matches on this card, you should have no problem, just have the skip button handy.R.I.P Chris Benoit

This is a wonderful opener. It features everything you could possibly want from these two. What really surprised me was how popular The Ultimate Dragon was here. The crowd was red hot for everything he did.***3/4 out of 5.The Steiner Brothers Vs Harlem Heat (W/Sister Sherri)Harlem Heat wins by DQ after Vincent from the nWo randomly interferes. This match wasn't too shabby at all. It's always fun to watch The Steiner's suplex people in all kinds of different ways. Harlem Heat had some good offense as well.**1/2 out of 5Konnan Vs Hugh MorrusKonnan wins by submission. This match was hard to watch because it was so bad. The crowd didn't give a damn about it and neither did I. There were a few blown spots as well. Overall, it's a waste of time.* out of 5For some odd reason, Public Enemy comes out for an interview. They give a really annoying interview.Glacier Vs WrathGlacier wins. This is another pretty bad match. This is one of the worst feuds ever and that's saying something, considering it's WCW. The gimmicks were very cartoonish for 1997. *1/4 out of 5Women's ChampionshipAkira Hokuto (C) Vs MadusaIf Madusa loses, she is forced to leave WCW and never wrestle again. Hokuto ends Madusa's career with a brainbuster. This was a great effort from both ladies. It was sloppy at times, but the effort and quality of wrestling is able to overcome that. They told a great story.**3/4 out of 5Texas Death MatchChris Beniot Vs MengBeniot wins by submission when Meng passes out to the crossface. This is really average overall. I do have to give it some praise for a couple of things. Beniot showed great fight and resiliency for overcoming the odds. Meng looked like a beast for not giving up. All the praise aside, it's still average stuff.** out of 5Steve McMichael (W/Debra) Vs Kevin GreeneGreene wins after Jeff Jarrett accidentally costs McMichael the match. Well, anytime you have two football players battling it out, it's not gonna be pretty. That's exactly what happened here. You know what? It's not even the worst match on the show.*1/2 out of 5Tag Team ChampionshipThe Outsiders (C) (W/Syxx) Vs Ric Flair & 'Rowdy' Roddy PiperThe Outsiders win after Hall pins Piper with a Razor's Edge. The real story here is that Flair left Piper high and dry to go after Syxx. This match had energy, but that's about it. It's nothing special what so ever. The Outsiders held the tag team titles way too long.** out of 5Falls Count Anywhere Match'Macho Man' Randy Savage (W/Elizabeth) Vs Diamond Dallas Paige (W/Kimberly)Randy Savage wins with the help of Scott Hall. This was a very good brawl between these two. This match is just as good as the one they had at Spring Stampede. They battle all over the building and it was pretty intense. The ending protects DDP and doesn't hurt him at all.***1/2 out of 5Well, this is a decent PPV. It has some crappy stuff in it, but also some good stuff as well. It's worth a watch.6/10
... View More1. Respect Match: Psychosis Vs. Ultimate Dragon - Dragon won in a nice match. Psychosis's suicide dive or Dragons' outstanding Moonsault were highlights. 8.5/10 2. Harlem Heat Vs. The Steiner Brothers - We saw that match hundred times, but GAB 1997 was decent bout. Hey Scotty, do you remember Frankensteiner? 8/10 3. Hugh Morrus Vs. Konan - Konan is super-idiot. You couldn't like him for wrestling skills. And his presentation is awful. God, after watching: Konan even didn't let Morrus perform Moonsault, cus afraid of not manage to sidestep. Terrible wrestler. Poor Morrus tried hard. For him only: 6/10 4. Wrath Vs. The most hated wrestler (rightfully): Glacier - Catastrofically bad. One bad nightmare. 5/10 5. Akira Hokuto Vs. Madusa - Big lol, Madusa loses everything :D Hokuto technically worked on Madusa's left knee and clearly won. 6/10 6. Meng Vs. Chris Benoit - Rematch, huh? Yes Benoit made Meng submit to Crippler Crossface. Smell of real hurting there. :/ 6.5/10 7. Kevin Greene Vs. Steve McMichael - Well waste of time. 2-non wrestlers tried to act like they was. 5/10 8. WCW Tag Team Title match: Champs-The Outsiders Vs. Ric Flair/Pajpá - Flair went background and Piper ate Crucifix Powerbomb. Weird booking. 5.5/10 9. Macho Man Vs. Diamond Dallas Page - It was obvious that Page lose this match, yet won that previous and that on Nitro. Funny fact was that hardcore thing on the entrance ramp. Broken plates by Savage's head. With Hall's help Macho won. 7/10
